I think we are getting closer. Here is a picture of what I have and what it looks like 71redcuda posted. Notice the angle and length of arm is different. I don't think I have on for a 71 even though I was told it was. No way it can go in like 71redcuda's because the handle it too long and hits the grill.
JulesdaWiperman I really don't think that first one you posted is for a 71 E-Body, you need to have them do a test fit on it before they get a big supprise like I did.
Left one has my vote it's the 71

Just wanted to update on this, have been working on other things and put this on the back burner. I bent the latch that I have to get it to fit through the hole, no way it can be for a 71. Which really makes me question some of the ones you post Jules, think they may be surprised when they try to put them on. I can get the handle through the hole, but it actually stick of past the front of the grill, the handle is too long. Then you can't move the handle toward the driver side to release the latch because it is hitting the side of the grill. You can see in the top picture it is not even starting to hit the release lever. So I guess I am back to searching for a handle, just sucks that this one was not cheap and not what it was suppose to be. Hope this info saves someone in the future ORIGINAL HANDLE: (hadle was straight, hard to tell in picture) HANDLE AFTER I BENT TO FIT: HOW IT FITS IN THE CAR:

That would make way too much sence, Mopar like to keep us guessing I think. It is even possible their is more then one handle used from some of these pictures.

They may not have a part number, but all the ones I have seen have a four digit date code. Are there dates on the ones that have been posted here? I can post a pic. of one with the four digit date if needed.

Blue one had no date code. Silver one no date code.
No number in that location on mine either, so much for that

I found a fabricator that will take your 72-74 Cuda Hood Release Handle (which are more common) and turn it into a 71, but you have to send him a handle to do it with along with return postage. His website is http://blazysmetalcraft.com/, but I would suggest just call him, james at 860-274-3857. Very Reasonable nice fabricator and also a car guy. Below is a original 71 handle on the right and the one he created on the left before final I did a final sand and powder coat.
