And no VIN or VIN pad...

I think this was someone's heavy handed approach to saying,

"NOT FOR RESALE"

...no $h!t !!

Chrysler recommended Marine block pn3690030 for Grand National racing. The HEMI fuel block was 3690010

No (normal)casting numbers

Some Marine blocks had the webbing on the skirts and some not. Some had webbing and 2 or 4 bolt mains.

Curious

the old moparts discussion I mentioned: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=6151728&Main=6151567

It correlates for me

Cool deal. I saw one of those blocks about 20 years ago in a guy's garage when I went to buy some parts. That was before digital cameras or cell phones so I wasn't able to get a picture. But it was the same deal. Wedge block with cross bolted mains and a 1964 date stamp. He said he had gotten it from a NASCAR guy.

Well I plan on taking it to the Mopar nats and seeing if some of the old timers can shed some light on this block! Thanks for all the replies.

It must be worth something to someone I just had a PM offering me 5K for the block, what is this thing?

Here's a couple questions for you (again) can you please post pics of the stampings and any other numbers you found? Was there anything special about the 64 Plymouth it came out of (trunk).

IIRC in mid 71 Chry made a small run (100 or so)of 426 wedge blocks for Nascar and drag racing.I can't recall if the bosses for the cross bolts were cast in.I do believe there was also some IND and Marine 426's that included the bosses for the cross bolted mains.I rebuilt a pair of Marine 426 many years back that had the cross bolted mains but the rest of the parts were 426 S type parts plus the marine gear and the gear drive for the reverse rotation required for one of the dual marine engines.

Leave the gun.......take the Cannoli's....Mike

Dan Dvorak ran a '70s cast 4.25" block in his cars. The thing that made it better than a typical '60s cast 426 block was it used a 440 water jacket making the cylinder walls an extra .070 thicker. Dvorak did have a cross bolt wedge block at one time but I believe it was a converted Hemi block.

Back in the days before aftermarket BB wedge heads, I saw a set of heads that had no casting numbers, the external appearance of a 452 head and Max Wedge size ports. The owner was from NC and said they were used by Petty after the Hemi was banned and before the small block program started.
