Thanks kilroy!

Yes as Kilroy said, if the accelerator pump shot is weak and not a solid stream for the whole duration of the accelerator pump travel, that will cause a big bog. Check the pump shot with the engine off and you can see the stream better. The pump well needs to be totally free of dried gas, corrosion and the plunger(viton rubber or leather)must be in very good shape to function properly in the well id. You can take the id of the well and clean it with a piece of 600 grit sandpaper with light oil on it. Just don't gouge the well id but clean it up if needed.

You can knock out the pump with a punch or #2 Phillips screwdriver by knocking on the top side of the end of the pump stem.

ok folks, i got the top off the carb...the pump plunger looks to be in great shape...But i think i found the problem....I read that i should have a setting of 27/32nds on the floats, i have almost an inch and a 1/4 on both floats...this would most definitely cause a lean issue and poor pump shot lol

I need to verify that 27/32nds is the correct setting on the floats...

I think i'm gonna replace the pump plunger, and take a look at the transfer tube also...thanks for the tip on that

While the top of the carb is off, carefully inspect the pump plunger bore in the casting for heavy pitting. This will cause some pump issues.

I'm also wondering if the metering rod tree is adjusted properly. This can be a throttle transition problem.

the plunger looks to be in new condition...no pitting at all, same story with the rest of the carb internals..i believe it's had a recent rebuild...but they forgot to set the floats correctly...

I tried multiple settings on the tree, it made no difference...

The plunger seal itself or the aluminum bore where the plunger rides? The aluminum bore in the carburetor top can't have any pitting.

Did you make any of the other suggested changes or did simply adjusting the floats fix the problem?

I only adjusted the floats, since it was obviously the problem after inspection of the pump plunger turned out negative(it was in good shape)
