According to the '70 FSM, all 383 and 440 (except the 440+6) got the solenoid vacuum advance.

I have this vacuum advance unit off my distributer but I don`t think it`s correct for my 70 383 rr.It is a large unit with a solenoid part # 3438262,what is the application and which unit do I need?
I don't see that # in my part # info. I see a 3438233 as a asse. line # and 3438234 as a sevice replacement. Whats the date code on the unit you have? I have a 68 383 that lists 2875356 as a asse. line # and a 2873357 as a serv. replacement but the car has a 2875301 in it and it's dated correct for the car and the org owner ( I'm the 2nd) said it's never been changed. I can't find that # either!

The dist. number is 3438234 but the vacuum advance unit is the 3438262 number.
Got ya. That dist # is the sevice replacement # for your car, so that may be the service replacement advance #.
