I am using the comp cams version of the 509, which has more exhaust duration, and 2266 pistons. Mine are over .100" in the hole. I measured P/V clearance and it ended up being right at the minimum, .120 exhaust .080 intake if I remember right, don't have the #s in front of me.
That's just to say that milled heads and decked block might give piston/valve clearance problems.
I sure wish I had different pistons but like you, it's what I had.
I think if the PV clearance is OK that should run 11s in your car no problem.

ive seen simular builds go low 11's high 10's but its hard to track down all the right info.all i know is that it sucks having these pistons, but im on tight budget.i seen people mill .60 off with a .20 gasket and be fine even with 915 heads witch have already smaller chambers this is where im getting confused.i just want 9.5 compression so i can run pump gas,i know i can just throw the heads on but most of the combos that run those numbers have 9.5 compression.
I have ran 11.teens with that combo in 3600 # volare on ss springs 488 gears

My combo is very similar to what you're wanting to build. Best was 11.29 @ 120 MPH. Everything is the same but I have JE flat tops w/ 11:1 compression, adj. rockers and a heavier car. I dyno'd this motor when I was in tech school and it made 506HP @ 5800 and over 500 Ft.lbs. This combination is pretty good but the only thing I would do different is the cam. With my combination I wish I would have went with a solid. With your lower compression I would probably run something more like the .484 cam if you want to stay with MP or something in that range (maybe even a solid). I have run the 484 and the 509 in a lower compression engine and like the 484 better . In my challenger I have a 29.5 tire with the 4.30 gear and it goes through @ 6000-6200 RPM.

I drove to the track and ran 12.40's in the desert here in Las Vegas in my 3700# Roadrunner with a 440, solid fan and stock water pump and alternator, 509 cam, 10:1 speed pro pistons, 906 heads, street dominator intake, 1 7/8" headers, 3500 stall 727, 3.23 gear. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the car by driving it as much as you can, especially on the street.

My brother has a similar combo in his scamp. All steel but hood, no back seat, and only one poly seat. .030 over 440 cast stock replacement slugs, 346 heads which were milled to straighten up and ported with mp templates. The block was decked but I can't remember how much. Some reason .070" seems to come to mind. MP 509, crane 1.5 rollers that he had off his old race motor, team g intake with 750 dp holley. TCI street fighter convertor, TA manual valve body, 4.10 8 3/4, 26x8 m/t slick. Best pass was a 11.48. He calls it old junk as it has a few small rust holes and paint falling off. I think its a neat ride. Beep

Thou I have built alot of motors with that cam with great results that cam needs a complete package to work correctly. It likes gear converter COMPRESSION,headers, ect. I think there would be a cam that would give you better results for a PUMPGAS MOTOR combo. You may be disapointed with the lack of low end torque with low compression and that 509 cam. With that piston that is that far in the hole it would be very hard to make anything above 9.5-1 . That cam is a thumper and makes power no torque when the combo isnt right.

im willing to start fresh,if i change the pistons im gonna wanna go faster.let say i have some ootb stealths or rpm's with the other parts i have listed except the pistons.what do i need to do to get to low 11's high 10's.what pistons?what cam?pumpgas
If you start fresh I would spend $2000 on a nice 440 source stroker kit and buy some stealth heads and you're pretty much done except for machine work, intake and cam choice. You'll be in the low tens to high nines on pump gas.

ok what if i threw a set of 440 soarce heads and some trw dome pistons?on another level if i went with lets say a 590 mopar cam what pistons would i need to run with no clearence issues and have a good quench with the stealth heads?
You dont even want to go 9s... way different and the price of racing goes WAY UP... do you have a roll bar now
