WP23 Coronet 500 2-door hardtop 62 383 4bbl 3 4-spd manual transmission 31 7.35x14 blackwall tires 117 SPD - Wednesday, January 17, 1968 224274 Shipping Order # P6C premium vinyl buckets - white w/blue dash&carpet QQ1 monotone paint - "bright blue metallic" U UDF color - "light blue metallic" broadcast sheet would be interesting, a good looking sleeper with its 383 & 4-speed and flat hood, I'm sure it was quickly forgotten about with the recent anouncment & expected arrival of the "NEW" Super Bees sounds like it is close to home I don't need it, but wouldn't mind checking it out

Get the VIN and the first two letters will tell you the Model: WH = Coronet 440 WP = Coronet 500 WS = Coronet R/T
The 5th letter will tell you the engine: F = 318 G = 383 K = 440 Actually that would be a L.. K is 350 hp 440 used in C bobies, L is 375 hp 440 (Magnum) J = 426 H = 383 hi performance
The R/T came stock with a 440 engine and the only option was the 426 Hemi.
According to my 68 manual the Coronet 500 would be the 318 engine. However as previously stated no 318 engine with the 4 speed.
You are right! I copied the info from a 68 Chrysler Service Manual on CD and it listed them as I posted. I should have caught that since my car has an L.

It's easy to do. But for a wrong fact you now owe the original poster 1 beer...

I'd LOVE to see a copy of the BS to see what engine assembly this car recieved.
Great find!

I'm going to look at a car this afternoon that is my buddys, his father died in an accident recently and informed me about this car that his father has owned since new and from what he says is in great original condition. At this time the info is a 68 coronet w/4 speed and a big engine. I was wondering without knowing if its an R/T or 500 was it possible to have a 4 speed behind any type of motor for that year?
If you decide to pass on it, I sure would like to have a shot at it.

Ya know, most of the MOPARS w/ flat hoods turned me off. Not so w/ the Coronet. (nor the Duster for that matter) Maybe it is because I have owned a '68 Coronet (and currently own a Duster 340) with a regular hood. Please keep it a 500! I think they are getting rarer by the day with everyone cloning them. I would be proud to drive a restored 500 anyday!
