We have the Mid-Atlantic Mopar show this weekend at Mason Dixon. Good show but you only get 2 time runs before elims. So does one run all out for a fast et or just try and dial the car to win some rounds? Keep in mind I haven't really tested this car out much. I guess I could pay and run 2 catagories for a few more runs...

My ... try and go rounds this time. Then make plans for an upcoming T&T session to start learning what makes the new combination work better.

I always go for rounds. Chasing tenths doesn't mean as much as having a good working consistent car to me.
Around here , the weather can take the tools right out of your hands tune up wise , because the air can go from fair to poor in a hurry.
I just decided I'd rather keep the car in the show than see if there was a little more in her.

If you don't try to make it as fastest as you can how will you know what to dial The key to constintcy is traction and repeating the same starting line RPM (with no tire spin)and shifting it out of 1st and 2nd gear at the same RPM and not lifting during time trials Getting the best reaction times is another story Don't forget Have fun

Man I wish! some day when the kids are older I might be able to go 2 days in a row...
I'll just try and run it the same both times. Last time I went I ran 2 classes and made the semi's in both. That'd be fun

In my case, go rounds. I have back to back night races this weekend and I am presently sitting 14th in points ( out of apperox 60 ). Really want to finish in the top 10 this year. It's going to boil down to mostly driver consistency. Where did my wife put my practice tree !!

Racing is about winning. The best driver [ racer ] is the one who goes just fast enough to win. This is true in all forms of racing, drag racing, bomber class dirt trackers, F1 or NASCAR cup.

ahh that is a good question and I probably should have mentioned that the car should run 11.20's (I hope) and I have no cage. I don't want to have nice back to back runs and be told to slow it down for elmins with no chance to run. If I could bet on 3 runs I'd run the 1st 100% and try something else for the other 2.

Sounds like you need to get a cage in it asap! Unless you plan on not running it for long with this setup. That would drive me crazy not being able to run it all out all the time.

by no cage i assume you mean it has nothing at all and at that 11.5 is the limit. with stock floor pans and (iirc) firewall a roll bar is good to 10.00 so a cage wouldn't be required for 11.20s, only a bar

i would think most tracks (if they're paying attention) are going to boot you if you run under 11.5 anyhow so that being the case i would try to set it up to run 11.50s

all that said i think people get complacent with safety because of the rules and how fast cars are going these days. 11.50s might not sound fast but turn that car sideways at 115 MPH and 11.50s is gonna feel like the space shuttle

no cage, at least not anytime soon. Kids have to be able to climb in and out.

I always run the car flat out and see how fast it is running that day. Then I dail right at my fastest et and try to cut a good lite and win. My car is usually pretty consisdent and I figure it will run within a few hundreths of my best et. So if I cut a bad lite I will loose anyway. But if I have them covered in eliminations I will hit the brake and slow it down. Good luck as I want to go but dont know if I can make it. Ron

I provide a quality car and make decisions on the numbers.
My driver ( and the woman who tolerates all my nonsense and has for 35 years ) is responsible for the routine , which she is very good at.
The new car might be a different story , but at the end of the day , I try to take the most important piece of advice you offer...I have fun.
If I could cut a light to save my life , it would be a lot more fun......
