That is interesting. Been using that filter for years and never seen one do that. Glad it all worked out ok and there was no paint removed from the car. On the cat whiskers good luck you will likely need to remove them at the very least to get the oil out.

Scary. What was your oil pressure? That cleanup has to be mess but better than a new car or waking up in the hospital.
If the oil is in the fuzzies/trim that run the length of the door I would remove them and scrub them is dish soap.
Friend of mine some years ago had a 924 Porsche which he rebuilt the motor. Was running great for 1000s of miles. One day the seal blew out of it (he was running it hard) and he didn't notice until it was too late and roached the bottom end. Then he was backtracking and saw the track of oil laid down on the street. He attempted to get reimbursed for the engine, but could never make it happen.

Glad to hear you were able to keep it under control, that is definitely a scary situation! I recently went to the local Napa to buy a filter for my 360, wanted a short race filter--didnt know they didnt make one. So I said well just give me a gold one. The guy there said are you sure, they filter way more than the racing filter. He recommended getting the Napa silver instead, said it filters close to the same as the racing filter. He also said the gold filter should just be used for factory builds, new cars, etc. Just my ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif)
