We had no issues, the breathers worked very well, the car ran and ran, the brake cooling worked fantastic. The car was wow!

I ran the Intrepid and got 108 mph out of it on the back straight.

Now that the glen is over with I will be somewhere else besides here in this forum.

This car hit the tire barrier wall sideways in the last session monday afternoon. Fatigue was the main cause of the wreck.

I hope you stay around/check in once a week anyway. I'll miss your knowledge and tech reports/advice.

PM me with any questions.

I did an after flight health check on the charger this morning. All is well, no surprises underneath, the brake cooling worked fantastic, the pads on the front were only 1/2 used. The front rotors show wear, but nice and even.

According to the "hot laps" driver, the brakes never showed fade even when the instructor was having him push the car hard, hitting 120 mph on the back straight every lap. Remember large fat heavy car. So much for huge brakes being needed...

A good number of new mustangs were flogged, they were very fast and fun, not overweight, large and bulky like a challenger... have you driven a ford lately?

I have a new 5.0 Mustang and have to say that it would be very hard to build something old school that would put down a better lap time then it.
Guys are running into the 11's at the drag strip with very near stock Boss cars and they are even better out on a road course.

How much HP would you say the Black N Blue Charger is making?

What tires did you run on the track?

+1!

not enough, 350 maybe at the back tires based on the mph and bulk [weight]

What tires did you run on the track?
Same ones it gets driven on

As the owner of the Challenger I do distinctly remember catching up to the Charger at least once...

Haha Thanks for the pics! I didn't have any of my own car.

Thanks! Yours is pretty cool too. I toyed with the name Frankenchallenger because that's what it is, but I've been JHC around my friends for years.

Autoxcuda, The only mod I did was a homemade cat back exhaust that didn't do much but create drone. Otherwise it was showroom stock with only 4,000 miles on it. It does have the Super Track Pack and paddle shifters (auto) so that helped.

Hey Tom,

Is the owner of the Black N Blue Charger a member here?

Does that High Performance Driving School offer more than the June date at The Glen or is it only one time at the Glen for the year and then off to smaller tracks?

Any plans in the works for the Charger in the near or long term future? Add a little HP to the combination or?

Black n blue's owner is working way too hard to post but i am sure he is lurking...

There is an August driving event sponsored by Phoenix CMR. No other tracks are run as "Thunder Road" is the best high speed road course in the country.

As for a faster large fat charger a new rear assembly and transmission/converter are in the works. We need a smaller converter and a trans that downshifts under part throttle and shifts at 5500 rpm.

Jesus in the black challenger drove very well...

What gear ratio will be going into the Charger? Its currently the 3:54 Dana in the car now correct?

At what RPM is the trans shifting at now?

What size convertor will be next? I remember you said it was a pretty big converter that made the car come off the corners well.

Are going with a taller gear and lower stall to get the drivetrain down in rpm so when your coming off a fast corner the trans downshifts into second and puts the engine right in that lower rpm of the fat part of the torque curve?

Also have you put the car on the chassis dyno to plot the torque and hp curves?

I know you do your homework and concentrate the efforts on maximum returns for time and money spent.

3.54 dana, 9 inch converter and a badly rebuilt 727, it spools up to 4200 rpm but does not down shift on the track.

the current trans is OPW junk
Other Peoples Work that is junk

I have been thinking about a 518 overdrive trans.

The new auto will down shift under part throttle and upshift at 5500 rpm if i can help it in "drive". The governor on the tail shaft is key to this as well as valvebody and converter selection.

A trip to the chassis dyno will happen when i am satisfied with the transmission.

Thanks for the interest
