i threw a few pics of my 39 up along time ago in a thread about hot rodding these old trucks and got a great response so i figured id update you guys. truck started out going to be a rat rod but somewhere along the line took a turn i used the cab,grille and head lights from the old truck and pretty much built everything else other then the speedway front axle set up.
the cabs been chopped 5",channeled 4",took 6" off the rockers and shortened front to rear about 3".frame is 2x4 3/16 wall with a 17"rear z and 5" front,3.91 9.25 shuregrip rear and the front end is a 6" speedway drop axle with custom radius rods.steering box is a 69 dart box set up for cowl steering
engine is a 505 ci RB mopar 4.35 bore and 4.25 stroke,eddy rpm heads,.566/.588 lift lunati mech cam,harland sharp rockers with 2 eddy 500cfm thunders series carbs,should be a tad over 600hp, 630tq
727 trans,bigger planetary s,billet servos,4 and 5 clutch set up with a turbo action shift kit and 3000 convertor
im doing body work now and am pretty close to getting it into primer.plan is to paint it hot rod satin black.

Nice frame. I still can't get over the transverse Ford leaf spring front end, but it seems to mean "generic hot rod" to most of the population.

Did you build the frame yourself out of stick tubing?

I'd say it should have flames coming out of the zoomies and extending over the lower door and bed.

I KNOW I KNOW but just to be clear,there are NO oem ford or gm parts on this truck,the front end and brakes are all aftermarket actually the only oem parts in the chassis is the rear end and the engine and trans.i was going to use a oem mopar front axle but by the time i added a spring and disc brakes i was time and money ahead to buy a speedway kit.
i built the frame,rear sway bar, 4 -link , front radius rods, steering arms and tie rods

thanks guys,i hate body work and been having motivation problems of my own.my original idea was to do a nice chassis and ratrod body BUT i got a buddy who cant leave a piece of aluminum un-polished and after the tunnel ram set his sights on my tranny case,then i had to hear non stop how i couldn't put a crappy body on a nice frame.
i appreciate the sanitary comment,i tried real hard to keep it clean. i shortened the front of the frame 3 times and made a few other changes to get the look i was after.
the hood ornament is really a shift knob made by Kaval

heres a few more pics,but i gotta say the engine in the chassis is my mock up engine(stock 440) i was going to run until my 505 was done.my 505 is waiting for push rods and head studs and will go in before the cab goes back on now,plus its got some more bling bling parts on it

BODY WORK i hate it,i come up with a full proof way of being left alone though,just let your friends know your doing body work and you wont see them for weeks for more then a few minutes im no body guy and havent done any in over 10 years.i was actually pretty amazed with how straight it was after i saprayed the first batch of primer.good thing i didnt get black primer it may have just stayed that way

body work is done,the painter at work is going to spray it this coming weekend.cant wait to start putting it together.borrowed a lizard skin gun and spray ceramic on the bottom of the cab and sound deadner inside the cab and inner box sides.its some weird messy stuff.

fired up the lathe and made some nice knobs and ring nuts for my switches today.

push pull headlight switch with high and low beam,and push pull starter and ignition switch

thanks moparx.i cleaned my shop last night and got all the "body shop" out of it..had the whole family out there blowing spraying and washing,lol
picked up the 505 today and decided to swap engines.pulled the old motor out and all the good stuff off and soon found out my new 6 bolt HD flex plate and arp bolts dont work on a 8 bolt crank i was going to order a 6 bolt 440 source rotating assembly to begin with and changed my mind and went with a muscle motors set up,never asked them about it and handled the crank a bunch setting up the engine and never paid any attention till now.new parts are on the way.

as much as i like red..alot..and the color of my megacab,ramcharger,rzr,even the wifes cough cough 66 mustang...no its going to be SEM hotrod black and might get some mopar door art down the road.

got the cab back on and the new engine in.been having to massage this and that to make all the new parts work together and going through my game plan on wiring......at least its pretty clean and fun work from here on out

took the 39 dodge and the wifes 66 mustang to a local show today and waited around for the awards because we though my wifes mustang could do pretty good in her class.....i about fell over
