I'd probably see if I could get some non-polished versions of these wheels from centerline, paint them black, and see if I could weld on some tabs to hold dog dishes....

This site shows a pic and it takes a small/9" cap. Tried to copy/paste the pic but they have it right-click blocked as copyright, so I gotta respect that.

YES!!! So somebody else has seen these!

I thought many years ago that one could take a set ov these, and weld the centers to a newer 17x8" steel rim, perhaps like those found on a cop car? Maybe even a 17x8-10" aftermarket rim? That would fool all but the most discerning viewers. The 16" stock versions dont quite look 'right', but a taller rim would make the center look smaller, and more proportionate. The cap would be noticeably smaller in relative terms (compared to a 15"), but it'd still be better than anything else i've seen done, save those $4000 one-offs on that Roadrunner linked here a while back.

Also, semi-related... has anyone bought from this company? I see something i've been looking for there for a looooooong time...

I hadn't heard of those wheels until TC@HP2 mentioned them, and surprisingly found those with a 5-min Goog.

I agree, moutnign in a larger wheel might bring the proportions back a little better. Would work best with the larger 10" cap, though, but that's gonna require Ford wheels like this (if Ford had such an equivalent).

There are a lot of neat vintage centercaps on that website, I'd be interested in picking up a set for my backburner custom wheel setup if the price was reasonable, but that 'contact for price' thing turns me off.

Do you have a list of the diameters for Mopar wheel centers and IDs of aftermarket hoops???

Wheel Vintques makes a few 17" steel wheels in 5 4 1/2 bp that you could use. But they are about $200 a piece. http://www.summitracing.com/search/Brand...in/?Ns=Rank|Asc

Somebody with a yellow 71 Demon on FABO used the newer Charger steel wheel with trime rings and ralley center caps and they looked really good.

Heres a pic of different car but it should give you an idea of how they'd look in (Argent looks better) black.

Who would have ever though regular steel wheels would cost that much. Too bad they don't list the shipping weight with them.

So while we're on this subject, what are the opinions on runnign non-factory wheels that aren't hub-centric?

Not hub-centric means piloting is done via the lugnut seats and vehicle weight is then carried by those seats and also via clamp force across the wheel/rotor interface.

I'm guessing slotted uni-lug wheels are even 'worse' as they become stud-piloted?

Thoughts or experience?

I'm pretty sure the have hub adapters. My memory is preventing me from remembering where I've seen them though. Summit maybe?

I've used non hub-centric billet aluminum wheels on hundreds of vehicles and never had a problem..

Well thats good to know I just ordered some 17 x 8 for my Vega and I'd hate to have the bolt holes elongate on me!

Look kinda sorta similar to a bunch of centers I just picked up..
(still need the lug holes drilled of course...)

(Same guy who did these centers does one like your's from memory too...just didn't have any around when I got these)

He also did some more modern looking custom cut billet ones for me.

X2...in fact on my old '96 ram I used 1996 dodge van wheels for winter tires. the OEM van wheels weren't hub centric.

They look aweful especially on a Charger. Not even going to think about how HEAVY they'd be. A good quality aluminum rim would cost less and look muuuuch better.
