I've been looking at 68-71 A-Body Rallye Dash bezels and cannot figure something out. To the right of the radio, some dashes (it appears mainly 68-69 A-Body) had an additional switch. What was that switch?

However, I've looked at two near perfect restorations on 70 340 Dusters and both of those Dusters had that same switch to the right of the radio - one an A/C car and one a non-A/C car. I've looked at B/E/A and PG Classics who reproduces that rallye dash bezel and neither have a 70 or 71 bezel with the cutout for this switch.

So - was that switch for 68/69 cars only? And if so, would those two 70 340 Dusters have the wrong dash?

To the right of the radio on a 68-69 is the cigar lighter receptical, not a switch.

The 70 Dusters dashes were correct. As mentioned above, that is the lighter to the right of the radio. It was there in 70 (even though there is an empty round hole in the ashtray). In 71 it was moved to the same ashtray hole that was not used in 70. Another Mopar oddity.

You can see the lighter and the empty ashtray hole in this 70 dash pic.

Hmm....that is odd! I wonder why no one is reproducing the correct 70 dash then? Also, if the lighter is in the dash itself and not in the ashtray, how is that setup? Do you have a picture of the backside?

No pic of the back but here is the parts book view. As far as the setup there are the lighter parts in the hole and a single power wire connected to the back of the lighter.

Perhaps you could cut the lighter hole in the repro dash.

Hope this info helps.

Do you happen to have a close up of the cigarette lighter itself? Now begins the search for the setup! I'm assuming it has a bracket to hold it in the bezel.

Here are 3 closeups I took. I think the lighter parts are the same for many years & models except for the knob design/style (on this application the lighter knob matches the other switch knobs). There is no "bracket" to hold it, there is a piece that threads on the socket behind the bezel.

Looks like a normal cigarette lighter which is good, have a few NOS one's that look close to yours. I saw the part that threads on the back of the cigarette lighter that holds it to the dash in the manual page above - do you happen to have a picture of that piece or how the whole setup looks from behind the dash by chance?

Sorry to be a pain in the rear! But thank you for your help, I really do appreciate you taking the time to get these photos for me!
