Nevermind, I'm a peckerhead!

Switch has 3 speeds and a 3spd motor.

So I'm back to here:

Quote:

To park the blades, the motor polarity is reversed, the motor runs in the opposite direction and a set on contacts in the motor open when the parking position is reached.
In order to accomplish this there must still be keyed 12V at one contact on the motor housing when the switch is in the OFF position and the switch has to be grounded

Quote:

So, I have a variable speed motor (3speed) and it could be the switch or a ground and I should be able to "hot wire" it to park position as a test.

Am I correct?
Sorry for confusion.............

Rick the wiperman has the answer:
Quote:

Hi Mike, here is a quick test to see if the motor is operational. Key on, wiper switch off. I want you to join the three soldered wires together just for an instant! (do not connect them permannently) It may produce a small arc but don't worry. When you touch the three wires together the motor should reverse and try and park below the hood as they should. If it does work than the trouble is in the switch plate. That is the round plate held on with 5 screws. On the underside of the plate is a set of points. Have a look at them they are probably bent in the open position. I want you to rebend the contact (long side of points) so they stay in contact with the small side of the points. If the plastic gear is not damaged than this will fix your problem (in 90% of cases). However it may bend again if the gear is damaged.
Give it a try, what do you have to loose? There is also a bench testing procedure on my web site if you need it. Let me know if this works for you. There is something else that may be wrong but I want you to try this first.
Rick.

I am always looking for core wiper motors. Let me know what you have and who knows you may just get a new motor for next to nothing! Be sure to visit the web site! www.WIPERMAN.HOMESTEAD.COM

great info, y'all... I have the same problem with mine but it's been pretty low on priority list. Considering the hack job wiring my car came with, it's not surprising, either.
