Did this 72 Cuda come with a side stripe or not? The car had remnants of the stripe on the inner door. Unfortuneately I do not have a build sheet. M88 is the 72 Cuda stripe or should it have an X something for the color indicator? (A6X9 Trim Grade/Style/Color plus M88+ black stripe?)

No side stripes on this one. M88 for 1972 models is the rear deck molding treatment.

C07 in your case is the scheduled production date also, not a litter container. If you used an online decoder for this, some of them contain a lot of errors. Some I have seen use duel (fighting) when they mean dual meaning two.

EN2 is end of sales codes, assembly line 2 build.

I agree with what Barry said.

Also, E55 is your 340 engine
S=Special means that it's a 'Cuda (performance model)
V1X is a BLACK vinyl roof
J54 is the dual scoop hood
M31 is your door & quarter molding, no hood molding on 'cudas
like Barry said, M88 is your tail panel trim. In your case, it's 3 pieces.
Neat Car.

Thanks Guys, I had assumed it had them from the factory because of the left over vinyl, but learned that the M88 was not the actual code. So no V6X means no stripe.
I wanted to make sure it wasn't another trim package code or something, and the knowledge here ROCKS.
Like my color keyed grille, it was standard on Cuda's of this color (but only when when you got the G36 mirrors right?) no code required.

anyone need some new brand new, black 72 `Cuda stripes LOL?

I am currently pursuing the original owners contact info. As previously stated this car had worn a factory stripe, but I'm not sure when it was installed though.

I now have seen a V21 car that did not reflect the V21 option on the tag but it was on the build sheet.

Have members documented any factory options via build sheets but that were not on the tag, this cars tag was full?

See the right side of line 3 for the V21

I found another V21 that has remnants of the factory stripe and no V6X code on the tags?

(note the early build door tag) it's also a G36 coded car

I want to apologize in advance for the sidebar but I noticed the most of the tags in this post and others were taken with some of the tag numbers purposefully obscured.

There is an obvious trend here which suggest an obvious risk by showing the entire tag. Is the concern that someone would repop the tag and make your specific car less valuable?

I hope that is not a real problem because I can't think of anything worse than someone cranking out false tags (for us, the craft and these cars)
