is there an easy way to measure/mark damper for 34-35 total timing with it on the car?
Put the dampener so it is at TDC, verify that(TDC) if you can , and then make a mark at 10 degrees or 15 if your timing tab has that much, move the dampener 10 or 15 degrees counter clockwise to make the marks before TDC and make another mark with the new one at TDC, go from there I usually make a very small 10 degree, 20 degree , 30 degree and then a bigger 34 or 35 degrees mark before top dead center

Both of the above methods work fine, or you can do the math... Mopar damper is 7.25" in diameter so it's circumference is 22.776..... There is 360 degrees in a circle so 36 degrees is 10%.... 10% of 22.776 = 2.277 So 2.25" from TDC is gonna be damn close... As Cab mentioned confirming true TDC would be the best starting point....

0.0632683" around the dampener circumference is (1) degree so measure a strip(s) of paper w your 0-1" and 1-2" micrometers & use that to measure/mark your dampener & what Cab said, the TDC tool is cheap and easy to use for a baseline to start w. 35.5 degrees is 2&1/4" (2.246"). After confiming exact TDC actually only need (2) marks, one for initital and one for total

Hillbilly timing tape Easy to do. Put damper timing mark lined up with 10* BTDC on cover, mark at 5* after TDC. Roll new mark to 10* BTDC, make mark at 5 ATDC. Now you have marks at 0-15-30 degrees BTDC Haven't put a timing tape on an engine in forever. I do have one for marking 90, 180, 270 marks... never actually applied to damper Dial back timing lights aren't always accurate, DAMHIK. I stick with my 30 year old inductive and go with no electronic adjustment.
