How does one go about modifying the original pump to reduce its pressure? I want to keep it. There must be a way. Its a 5.7 from a truck.

There must be a way. I don't like the separate reservoir and the expense. I have read it can be done.

No. The new hemi pumps put out nearly double the pressure of old. Or at least more than necessary

Are you talking about an older pump, i.e. 60s-70s?
I modified my 71 pump per one of the MOPAR mags. It entails pulling out the valve on the back of the pump and adding a shim washer, (I used a brass washer that I had to file the O.D. a little) .030" thick if I remember correctly.
Haven't tried it yet, but it is supposed to reduce the boost to more acceptable levels. It really is what MOPAR did by using the same pumps on smaller cars, (Valiant, Dart) with different shim packages.
I'll try to find out which mag it was, I have it somewhere.
Joe
I used the power steering pump that was on the 5.7 engine. No problems with excessive pressure

It is for the warlock. And I do want to keep the a/c. Ill give it a try the way it is. The demon has standard steering box so no problems there.
