A while back, we were discussing Don Carlton, the Missile cars, cars he worked on and magnesium Dana 60 rear ends. Somewhere in there I mentioned I had some pics of a 1980 Pro Stock Volare that was for sale SW of Orlando, FL near Disneyworld. I finally found a couple! I thought I took more and I'll look around when time permits. But I thought it would be interesting to post the pics for discussion, ID'ing the car and for whoever emailed me back then about it. Stewart? Fred?

The wheels and hood scoop look the same! Even the Dzus fasteners for the hood look correctly oriented. There weren't that many Volares built for Pro Stock.
I keep wondering if the previous owner or somebody here said that Carlton worked on/built a Volare before his accident. Interesting coincidence that this one is painted up similar to the Mopar Missile cars.

I am fairly confident it is the same car. I know it was a Carlton built car. Was for sale for quite awhile before Mike bought it. IIRC he got it from IA and it was running a SB. It was not very pricey at the time either.

Yup, that's gotta be it. The previous guy had a bunch of W-2 stuff I went to look at. I also found a PM from Malcomb Ricketts from 2 years ago. He was describing a SS legal Hemi car. But the PM heading was "Missile". I'll email and PM him a link. It would be cool if all 3 are the same car!

IIRC it had a W8 motor in it when Mike got it..Car was in Iowa. I thought about buying it for awhile and was happy to hear when he got it. I knew he would do it up right. I was just looking for a new race car at the time.
Somewhere I have pictures of it as purchased from Iowa.

Hope you have better luck at finding your pics than I did finding mine. It took me 2+ years!

HOLY CRAP!!! I've been looking for ANY pics of the car as it looked when Ed Lukas had it. If you guys have any images you could email me, I'd really appreciate it Trying to find any info from back then, has been difficult, at best. I tried to buy the car when it was for sale "turn-key", but somehow, that whole thing got messed up. As Al said.....I kinda pounced on it when given a second chance. PLEASE, any old photos and info would be appreciated. m.ricketts@comcast.netThanks!!!! as I bought it [roller] and now.....

All the cars could be easily updated, as mine[Carlton built] was a `77 updated to an 80. Kinnett's car could be a 76-80 with those 79-80 tailites. It's obvious that they are all from the same short period of time, when only a handfull of true prostock f-bodies were built. Glidden only ran that turd EXP for a very short period. Here's the NOS tailpanel we updated on mine[Carlton built car]. When I got it, the 80 tailite lenses were butyl taped to the back of the car.........

Poppa J.,
That EXP of Glidden's is sitting in a garage about 1/2 mile from my shop in Groveport Ohio.

Maybe I didn't explain myself very well: How many, who built them, where are they now, Hemi, big block, small block, baby Hemi's, W headed stuff, who ran which one, when????? Like I said,I already knew it's easy to rebody, heck it wouldn't surprise me if one of those wasn't a rebodded Dart Sport.
