Factory lightweight cars built for sanctioned drag racing and dealership built/modified cars are not eligible to participate.

So this means they don't allow YENKO Chevys either? I was under the impression when they opened the door for the big motor Yenkos, they let the Mr. Norm Darts in.

The only Yenko type I know of being allowed is the 70 nova with the LT-1 350 because they were sent to yenko with the LT-1 installed by the factory , pretty sure they were available in Canada that way thru the dealers ...

my memory on this is sketchy ...

Tom I know the 68 Mr Norn 440 Dart GSS is not a myth as I have seen a few over the years. I just did not think you could get one from the factory and I was always told Mr Norms installed the 440's in the 68 Darts. But I will say I saw a 68 Dart 440 running in Superstock and I wondered how it was legal ? Ron

Aluminum City Dodge in Alcoa, TN had one of these on their showroom in 1968. The owner was an avid drag racer and wanted the sleeper look to surprise some Ford friends.

I wonder if Wanns killer AVS would pick up a Pure Stock type car? Maybe I'll give him a call.

I have personally seen 13 of the 48 M-Code 68 Dart GSS's that Mr. Norm had built, anytime you want to see a couple of them just get ahold of me! Here is one of my friends cars...

I remember that Black car. That pic was taken during the Mopar Action magazine shoot. They were shooting my car and this car (not together), a bunch of years ago. That was at the Air strip next to NTR at the Mopar Nats.
I remember that the photographer was so irritated trying to take pictures of that black car. He said "I hate taking pictures of black cars...no good angles, too many reflections,......".

Car sure is flawless. Beautiful car!

Well I learned a little bit about the 68 Dart 440 cars in this post. I just never knew Mopar built some in 68 for Mr Norms as I always thought Mr Norms pulled the 383's and put the 440's in at his dealer. Oh well you always learn someting new about our Mopars every day. It makes sense also as why would NHRA let a 68 Dart 440 run in Superstock if it was not a legal fcatory car. Ron
