SEM is one of the original interior paints and I have been using it for 30 years with great results.
I have it mixed from the interior code and spray it from a spray gun.
I rarely use the aerosol, but it works fine, but most of the time on big panels I like spraying it from a spray gun as the pattern is bigger and easier to get even coverage.
SEM has 2 types of interior paint one for hard plastic and one for vinyl which can also be used to freshen up your vinyl roof color.

There is nothing wrong with DuPont and PPG interior paint but back in the day those didn't exist and SEM was what most everyone in the auto body trade used.I come from the day when cars were painted with Laquer and everything was buffed to get the final shine. There was no such thing as Urethane paints back then and SEM has been around since all that and never had bad results.

Like everyone said prep is key and it helps to use adhesion promoter on grain surfaces
