The super victor intake really is a beautiful piece, but it needs opened up to match the heads. The plenum volume is quite a bit less than the indy offerings, but I like the higher, straight shot to the head better than the humongous indy single plane setup. If I was building a larger cube engine I would give the nod to the indy piece, but being a 340, I would go with the super victor.

That does look like a nice intake. Thanks for the side by side pic.

Anyone know the size of the ports @ the plenum? Also the size of a M1 small port, The M1 large port is like 4 tall x 1 1/2 wide

The holley strip dom is around 2.25H x 1 wide @ the plenum & a w5 tunnel ram is around 3 x 1.5.... these are rough measurements @ the middle of the port in the plenum,

I found some old posts wile searching around the net last night... one from a guy Randy H, works in r&d for Edelbrock, He claims that on a 600hp small block with a super vic vs a M1 with B1 heads the super vic made 26 more hp @ 6500 than the M1 & 28 more @ 6600 & the s vic make better #s thru the entire rpm band, He did not give the cid.... This was back to back dyno testing intakes only. Anyone have any other test data?

I'd like to see a comparison between a Victor 340 and a Super Victor on a 408-416 in the 525-575 hp range.

I like the weiand excellerator even on a stroker small block under 600 horse or so.
Fits good, makes great power, responsive, and cheap. I liked it better than a victor on my eddie headed 416 that ran 10.70's in a 3450 pound car shifting it off the column, that was nothing fancy at all. Flat tappet cam and dinky tti headers. I used it with a dominator, a 1025 race demon, and a 1000 cfm 4150 holley on the 416.

Thanks guys . It doesn't look like it would be worth the swap $$$ wise to me. I would like to try a 1" open spacer in place of my 1" Super Sucker though.

The Super Victor in that post didn't have near the port work as the Victor 340.
I think the SV works really good on the stroker SB but, will likely cause hood
clearance issues on street cars.

Justin, try some sort of tapered spacer on your Victor 340.

Vic, what would you recommend? I have a 950HP on the four hole aluminum 1" super sucker. I'm going to freshen up my 408 next winter and will probably replace my 260/264 @ .050, .628/.633 flat solid with a solid roller. If I can find a deal on a SV I may pick one up to install after the freshening.

Thanks.

I tried a a Wilson 2" tapered on my 340 w/Port-O-Sonic and it picked up.
Back to back, my log book shows it went 9.99 from a 10.04.

I left the spacer on when I switched to the Victor 340 but, never
tried it without the spacer.

It's the only one I ever tried so, maybe something else would work
better or the same without the price tag.

Ok now for the question of the hour.... Opinions on how a M1 stands up to a victor or sv on a small block over 400 cubes... and thanks again to Kieth and Vic for the good info, I saved it this time

Craig, based on the decription of your cylinder head work, if the same guy
modified your M-1, it's probably pretty decent. There are probably better
intakes for you but, finding one ported correctly might be a chore. I might
post some of my Victor 340 pictures tomorrow.
