Has anyone bought one of these? I know they made a first batch and then took orders(including mine) for the second batch late last year and I was told I'd see mine in early January. I just called asking about mine and was told they would be ready in the summer and to call back then. Seems weird to me to take 465 bucks from someone for a part that wont be available for half a year. Anyone else dealing w/ this? Also, if you've bought one already, whats the quality like? Thanks guys.

A few months ago they had a Buy It Now on ebay for them. I asked about the quality, before hitting the button, because I was told by one of their workers at Carlisle that the first batch had some waves. They pulled the ad and told me they were out of stock. Years ago I gave these guys a rocker molding of my 69 340 S convert (one was already missing) so they could reproduce them. Never saw it again, got the run around for yrs. I think it got sold. They said it got lost when I called 2 weeks after handing it to them at a show.

Yeah, I am a little nervous about the whole thing. When they took my money in December they said just a few weeks. Now summer????? Smells fishy to me. I'm grabbing my bank records right now. Hopefully they will come through as I really want this panel!

What did you pay ? I remember like $365 ??? Someone has one on ebay now at a higher price. I will be getting one also if they come through this summer. Good luck .... just found listing on ebay. Said it was ended early because item no longer available, but the ad says 8 were available at $575

I'm lucky that I got an NOS one with my car. It has a little blem on it but I'm happy to have it!I bought some wheel lip mouldings from Metro a couple of years ago at Carlisle and decided a year later that I didn't want to use them. I returned them at Carlisle a year later and told them I was not satisfied with the fit compared to my originals. They returned the money with no problem. I would just ask them for your money back and tell them that you'll reorder when they let you know they are available.

Been waiting almost a year for a 67 GTX tail panel...Been given several excuses why they aren`t available yet. Two more weeks, then two more weeks, then two more weeks. At least they don`t have my money.

I've seen the Stuff Joel does and it rocks. He's the guy doing the E body door panels and they are INCREDIBLE.

It takes TIME to reproduce stuff. Hell I've put a year into having a simple rubber part done CORRECTLY. Approving, tweaking, reapproving, new mold, extra $$$$, etc. It's not easy.

Cool thing is Joel deals with US manufacturers - THAT probably add to the delays. But again, eveything I've seen them do looks incredible. I'll be ordering a whole new set of door and rear panels for my Challenger.

Well I am hoping it will be worth the 7 month wait. I just feel weird that they have my money without the part even being close to ready.

IMO thats a piss poor way to run a business. You dont take the money if you dont have a product to sell.

How did you pay?

You sure about that? In the door panel thread it sure sounded like they were being made off shore. Something about delays due to waiting for a shipping container to be full and a 30+ day boat ride and customs hold.

I guess in all fairness i can't speak for Joel. i just know he once told me he was in the area (southeat MI) to speak to his casting guy. I thought that was pretty cool. I know PERSONALLY how you have to beg US companies to do business with you.

No sweat. Casting is one thing we still seem to have the upper hand in for some reason. There are a ton of them here in the lower peninsula...

I believe the cast GTX rear panels are done in the USA, but the stamped/extruded trim is done over seas

I'm glad you asked. I called metro and they said they would be taking names for a pre order list "when they were ready". They took my number and called me and said it would be "right after Christmas". Then I called them a couple of weeks ago and was told to call back this summer. Wow.

Had a similar issue with them for the 71 barracuda grilles. I changed my mind a couple weeks after thinking this just didn't seem right. I basically got the run around from them for two weeks and decided to call my card company to dispute the issue since they wouldn't or couldn't or just didn't want to give me a refund. When the grille is eventually done, I will order it from Roseville or some other dealer that I trust more than Metro.

Where to start...

The second batch 69 Barracuda Finish Panels are due to be finished around the end of March. Sounds like the new girls up front are padding the estimated completion date a little, after the last one lapsed.

We had some troubles getting our materials from our metal suppliers in a timely manor for these parts. When you are not placing a $100,000 order your orders tend to get bumped. Plain and simple.

The 67 GTX finish panels are in production right now. We have also been waiting on a metal supplier for these as well. When we finally got them in and sent them out for CNC milling, they were returned without a portion being milled off. (The relief at either end, on the rear side.) They were sent back for another month of delay. They are in house now, and are being stamped at this time.

We set our time tables up based on estimated production dates, plus a little wiggle room. Sometimes our logistics really kill the estimates due to issues outside of our control.

The stamped and extruded items are done in house as much as possible, and the larger items are done at facilities in the US. It is the new E-Body door panels that are made overseas, and were the items waiting on shipment the last few months.

Pre-Orders are taken before a product is finished, and normally come with free shipping. There is always a risk of a product taking longer to finish than estimated, but you are taking that risk to guaranty getting the product as soon as it is available, and to ensure you get one before we sell out. If you are unsatisfied with the unforeseen extra completion time, ask for a refund.

We are not a dealer, we are a manufacturer who sells to other companies and to the public.

Here are some pictures of the 67 GTX panels in the shop right now. They are setting up the depth for the lettering on a flawed piece. They guy working on this isn't in the shop right now right now, as he is dropping off a cargo trailers worth of e-body panels to Roseville right now.

Finally, some info. I don't mean to start trouble, but it would have been good to know all this in the first place. I was never told anything about possible delays and when I experienced them I was told at least 3 different times that I could expect my tail panel in March, May and "to call back this summer". Also, the "girls up front" had no trouble calling me to tell me that it was time to pay. Why couldn't they make that same phone call to let me know that there would be a substantial delay when they found out????? Seems reasonable to me.
Again, I'm not trying to be difficult, just thought you and your(?) company might like to know how bad some of the customer service has been. I am very eagerly awaiting my tail panel. My car has been without one since December. I will update this thread to be fair when I finally recieve it. Thanks for letting me vent......
Sincerely, Cory Franklin(paid Dec. 7th)

It isn't my company. I just work there.
This thread has been noticed by others though.

I can't really answer for the phone staff. I try to stay away from the phones if I can. I try to keep to what I know.
