The two A body 8.75 axles that I have found at self serve wrecking yards were both in 4 door, slant six cars. I didn't check the fender tags. What is the code for the towing package anyway?

Anyone with a slant 6 or 318 A-body have a build sheet proving it actually left the factory with said 8-3/4"?

You fellow junk yard dogs need to be checking the rears on all the A-bodies you find. Even /6 cars.
Just picked up this 71 Dart /6 3-sp w/ disc and 8.75
A friend has a 72 Duster that he bought from the original owner. /6 auto w disc and 8.75

I thought everyone knew this already...I picked up a 3.23 posi one locally for $50 and got my buddy everything else for $150....

Gotcha again... NO 4.11 gears in any traditional Mopar axle.... 4.10 was the closest!

I always thought an A-body with a slant 6, 4-speed and 8 3/4" would be the car to get if you wanted absolutely BOMBproof combo...

On the other hand, i got the other kind ov luck... even my stick E-body didn't come with an 8 3/4". Now i gotta yank the 7 1/4 out before i do anything else.

Im no stranger to the fact either. I built my Slant 6 70 Dart with an 8.75 rear end. My slant physically broke the gears in the 7 1/4. I didn't want to be stranded again so I slipped in a 70 B-Body 8.75. Freshened up the 3.23s and I was off again. My slant was notoriously a torque monster and breaking stuff left and right.

you don't think its possible for a slant to have come with a 8 3/4?

Anything was possible, however I've yet to see any definitive proof. EVER.

I'll see if this Dart has the tag and sheet. Then we'll see.

Seen dozens of them. I drove a 68 Dart GT convertible that I bought in South Carolina in 1984 and it had the towing package and it was a 318 with a 727 trans and 8-3/4. You might have seen the car, I sold it to Karl Sturm who owns the Umbrella People that sells the Mopar umbrellas and other toys at all the major Mopar shows. It is now white with a blue interior and a crossram 340. If I remember correctly it had the towing package on the fender tag. I know for sure it had it on the broadcast sheet. I also have a 69 Dart 4-door with a 318 and A/C with a 727 and 8-3/4. It also has ralley suspension with drum brakes all around. I bought it from the original owners son and it seems he wanted a 340 Swinger but needed a 4-door for his family so he ordered it to have all the options of a 340 Swinger but the top engine in a 4-door was the 318. Pretty interesting car and I am still thinking I may restore it and make a good driver out of it one day. It even came with 5.5J wheels and dog dish hubcaps and vinyl flooring!

One of my Dusters. 1971 318, A904 and 3.23 8 3/4 rear end. It had the console w/orange buckets and door panels. I changed them to black after I got it though. I was 2nd owner. Notice the trailer hitch on the back.

So there was no broadcast sheet in the dart but the duster has one, what code do I look for?

I have a 71 dart w a 225 and an 8 3/4. Bought the whole car for $150. Beautiful grill, bezels, hood, front/rear valance, rim blow steering wheel, and the 8 3/4. What a rust bucket, but some nice parts.
