i said i wasnt going to comment on what should or shouldnt be allowed......but i guess i cant keep all of it in.

the PSMCD race in Stanton attracts a very broad range of cars from the glory years of American Muscle.

as a pure hi performance car "fan", i cant think of any American car maker that didnt offer up something i liked.
i find it hard to imagine there would be a racing series that highlights these fantastic machines.......and instead of finding some way of trying to make sure all of the best pieces each brand had to offer had a place to play.....the rules are constructed in a way that excludes some of the best-of-the-best.
personaly, i would LOVE to see some correctly restored(as in....before any mods were done by their owners) Hemi race cars, T-Bolts, lite weight GM iron, and all the rest.....right there in the staging lanes with all those shiney Muscle cars.
even if they had their own class(F/R..."Factory Race"), just get them to the event.

i would imagine that most of the people attending the PSMCD events would consider themselves "car guys".
that being said, i cant imagine too many people being upset at watching those things roaring down the 1/4 mile.

but hey......thats just how i see it.

Boy do I agree with this. It would be so cool to see the factory type race cars basically the way they came do some racing with the FAST class but in a class of their own as Dwayne suggested. I know I love the factory built race cars as it just shows how far the manufactors would go to win on Sunday and sell on Monday. They could maybe even have 2 classes for the factory hot rods........one for the ones that anyone could buy and legaly drive on the street and the other class for the ones only the racers or someone connected got that could not be street driven. It would really be an awesome class to me. But just having the FAST and Pure Stock classes and racing is very cool indeed. I really enjoy watching and reading about these cars. Reminds me of 1970 when Pro Stock first came about as they were very clse to stock bodies and chassis cars. I have pics of some of the first Pro Stock cars with just that little half round looking rollbar behind just the drivers seat. Yes it would be exciting ! Ron

11.54 Mahoney (stock Hemi RR)

Here is what I’m hearing from the grapevine as I wasn’t there in person. Mahoney ran 11.20’s with his pure stock RR which as I understand significantly breaks the pure stock record held by the L88’s? He was weighed and came in at 3800 and some change (legal), tore down and checked for compression, displacement, spring pressure, etc. (all legal). But then was told much later on that he was disqualified simply because he had a roll bar in the car!!!

Anyone that can add or correct any information to this please do!

i was told he ran 11.54 on a set of "cheater" tires that were shaved bald, when he put on the correct stock tires he ran 11.90

went 122mph with an auto in it

The grapevine was not to accurate at all.

No 11.20" a few 80"s and the 54 as posted @ 122mph.

This was not a Pure Stock race so I don't beleive the roll bar to be an issue?? It was a bolt in so Iam sure if told to remove it he will.

Car looks outstanding great job Rick and Scott.

How does that Firebird run so damn quick? Not being a Mopar cry baby or implying anything but c'mon, those are some sick times, that's fairly competitive F.A.S.T. territory. What's the story on this beast?

Oh, ok thanks for the info!

In any event isn't the current pure stock record an 11.54 from an L88?

Just to confirm, Rick's 1968 Hemi Road Runner posted the fastest ET & MPH ever by a stock Mopar and did it in 90 degree heat. As these "stock" tires start to *wear in* they start to hook better and better.... We paired Rick's car with three other cars for the factory stock final, Rick's car had the feild covered by soo much we asked him to take off his seasoned tires and put a new set on (which is stock racing suicide) to give the other guy's a chance. He did and spun half way down the track. He certainly could have kept the good tires on and cleaned house. Hats off to Rick for being a good sport.

Something tells me this was a one time only deal, we are very lucky to have him in our camp. At the end of the day Rick's the type of man who will not stop until he starts pulling wins from the corvettes, give this some time and watch it play out.

Thats exactly it, and thats why the GM products do so well. No cheating, no shinanigans, no rule advantage.

Everyone knows (or at least should) that money, R & D, dedecation and laps are the keys to running at the top of any class.

As for cheating.....I have no idea, very difficult to prove in most cases, but......unless I've mis-read the previous posts, some GM cars DO benefit from rules advantages, as well as the exclusion of certain non-GM combinations that the majority believes should be legal.

This new Roadrunner sounds like serious business. Imagine the results when it's dialed.......tires, converter, etc...

Probably making upwards of 685 RWHP, I'll bet.

Looks like the the "BIG" guy from Robesonia Pa. built yet another killer HEMI and this one ain't even for SS/AH.

Just think what can happen if the "BIG" guy from Pa. gets his hands on a F.A.S.T. HEMI combination.

I know I’m talking about the Road Runner. Both are owned by the same guy but the Firebird is in F.A.S.T. trim and the heavy hitters in that class are running high 9’s! Although 10.50’s in 90° weather is still impressive. The RR is in Pure Stock trim and that was just about setting records in those conditions.
