I don't have a horse in this race, but after all of this jibber-jabber I must add: That what IMPRESSES ME the most is a guy (or girl) having FUN with their ride at the level in which they can afford. What makes drag racing great is there are classes/races for everyone and every car. Some cars/combos are impressive and some are not...but not necessarily to the same person. On the other hand, shouldn't a 2400#, tube frame, big tire, 500+" aluminum head-motor-ed DAYTONA be way faster than mid-8's? Maybe the bottle would make it as fast as it should be N/A. Just wondering. I mean if a 3200# Cuda/Dart can go 8.60's in bad air...with "only" 440 inches of Hemi... Oh, one more thing: MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. Nitrous or N/A, big tire or small, or any combination...

my pile is a very consistent 10 second street car, and it does very well in pro et at our local track, but i know that one of these days, i'll run into one of those guys lurking in town that i hear about. it might be cab. it might be someone else. i would like to be ready with a little something extra. a 100 shot. maybe 150. no more than that, and not for consistent use. it would be for a different regime. i could use it at street legal night at our track. my car has been the fastest there, but there are several cars that are getting close. my chassis is certainly ready. driveline is ready. just a little spray, like i did in the aulde days, with excellent results. i don't need any complications like bottle heaters, window switches, none of that. just a w.o.t. switch as i had on my duster. simple. controllable. fast. flame on.
for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

My power adder experience has been with superchargers, boost is awesome and streetable. The thing I never could get around was that you never have the nos paid for, you keep having to fill that bottle. Supercharger or turbo not so.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Its Winter time and things are a little slow on Moparts so I would like to start a post about nitrous. Do posts posts about 9, 10, and 11 second cars impress you. I am old school and believe anyone should be able to achieve these times with NA combo's. Anybody can go out and spend 400.00 and bolt on a SYSTEM, open a valve, and push a button. What is the skill involved with this. Build a 11 second engine, add a bottle and brag about how fast your car is. I think we should have two fastest car lists on Moparts. One for NA and one for making HP the easy way. Old school racer here that takes pride in doing it the hard way. Heck even 8 second nitrous cars do nothing for me.
I enjoy NA, big cubes, but that is my thing. I am glad to see the NOS guys show up as car counts have gone down and there is nothing better than having them stare at the time slip and see that NOS or NA, you gotta cut a lite and run your number! The race is in your lane. I'm just trying to help them save money by putting them in the trailer before they waste anymore NOS!

I never meant for this post to become personal or hurt anyone's feelings. Its just that we can't talk about feeler gauges, 8 3/4 rear-ends, and would an 850 carb make my car faster, for the next 3 months. Heck one guy from Canada even called me a dude. I won't even make a comment to you about how simple and inexpensive my 8.60 engine build in the daytona was. I will say it was full of that so called 440source junk and never let me down.

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting John (Pittsburghracer) I would just like to say he is a great Dude..
Really....I think anything that gets down the track is impressive....I like fast cars....slow cars that beat-up on fast cars....cars on throttle stops....cars with the wheels hanging till half track....cars that pretty girls drive....
But most of all...the car I'm driving when the win light turns on.
Oh....this impresses the S#hick out of me..
