Its Winter time and things are a little slow on Moparts so I would like to start a post about nitrous. Do posts posts about 9, 10, and 11 second cars impress you. I am old school and believe anyone should be able to achieve these times with NA combo's. Anybody can go out and spend 400.00 and bolt on a SYSTEM, open a valve, and push a button. What is the skill involved with this. Build a 11 second engine, add a bottle and brag about how fast your car is. I think we should have two fastest car lists on Moparts. One for NA and one for making HP the easy way. Old school racer here that takes pride in doing it the hard way. Heck even 8 second nitrous cars do nothing for me.
Nitrous use at the 9, 10, 11-second levels are fairly elementary and can be achieved with a "$400.00" system if certain areas in the package are good enough versus having a 1-run wonder. But the minute you start dipping into the low 9's and faster a person needs to really start checking things and paying close attention. Lastly, at $400 it must be a used/old SWAP MEET system
8-seconds or faster? Nitrous takes no skill? You really need to educate yourself more about the subject before making that type of statement.
Fast nitrous, N/A or any other power-adder type car takes LOTS of skill, hard work, time, money, patience, and power management experience to run the numbers and be consistent or faster each pass. There is nothing easy about it. To be fair you should really see what effort goes into one of these type cars on a race weekend. I think you'd have a new found respect for the cars and folks turning the wrenches on a nitrous application.
I use to be closed-minded about bracket racing UNTIL I went to Norwalk in '04. Being around Eric M., Mr. P-Body, 440Jim and Pat Taylor reversed my thinking about bracket racing. There is a strategy to it, which makes it a challenge and requires focus/experience, so I have lots of respect towards bracket racers. Will I ever do it? Probably not. But most importantly I learned something NEW during that weekend.
Bottom line is I like anything that's fast no matter whats under the hood to make it FASTTTT! But hey, that's just me........

NO way.....Nitrous never impressed me, too easy Nitrous?!?! SURE anyone can just bolt on more kits and push the button Thats what im going to do, add another kit and just blow everyones doors off... Oh so i guess bolting on better heads, better cams, and better parts is different because thats NOT nitrous..OK Glad i understand that now...Then again im pretty dumb, and so are the other cars running mid to low 8s...at 3550.... Oh yea how many cars going that fast @ 3500 + YEA A LOT BECAUSE ITS EASY.... HA HA HA HA HA I guess the ss/ah cars are easy, because the parts just "BOLTED TOGETHER" ???? OK i can go on and on, let me go order two more nitrous kits so i can get in the 7's....
....BAD A$$ STREET CAR.....

It all depends on what size motor, weight of car, small tire big tire makes a car impressive to me. A gutted big block 9 second car on 14x32s does not cut it for me. I ussally pass trailer cars on the way home that are slower than mine while i got the radio on.Hers a little vid of some 8.5 racing no bars and all cars way more than 3150. If this is so easy why dont some of you guys get in the mix. And mll but one of this cars are small blocks. Not to knock any ones car here but there are only a fhandfull on here that are impressive to me. http://youtu.be/IYOvB29NFRo.

No. Now a 6.99 timeslip in the 1/4 mile would impress me no matter what power adder.

I agree with Billy......and not trying to be smart, but this thread shows your ignorance.....
ANYthing you do to your motor to make more power REALLY is a "power adder".......better heads........better camshaft....longer stroke crank........better intake......bigger headers.......better carb......nicer machine work....turbo.......blower.........nitrous.......nitromethane........THEY'RE ALL POWER ADDERS!!!!!!!!.....they all cost money....and they add more power by putting more air through the motor ........If you've ever tried to run a lot of nitrous, you'd know it's not easy or cheap....
Truth is, it's harder to run really fast with nitrous than a turbo or blower, that's why so many are doing are switching to boosted combo's.....
If you can't handle the truth, you're living a lie.......

I have never used nitrous and I am not a big fan of it as I enjoy building my mild cars NA and seeing how I can get them to run. But I always look at the combo as like any car thats runs good for the combo it is whether it has a power adder or not. If it uses nitrous but really runs stong for what it is then I am impressed. But just let people know it has nitrous as some guy getting smacked by a nitrous car that he thinks is NA will have him banging his head. Ron

I agree N20 is a cheap way for dummies to go fast....... What bores me is 14x32 tire on a tube chasis and wheelie bars running 8's

I know Jeff, the guy with the red notch with ghost flames. He just put that turbo combo together over the winter/spring. It used to be a nitrous combo car, and still went low 9's. 8.50's is impressive, no matter how you slice it...
Are you from the area.

No, but I keep in touch with all of the Dedpedal guys. I used to have a Mustang and hung out with them at NMRA events back in the early 2000's.
