Its Winter time and things are a little slow on Moparts so I would like to start a post about nitrous. Do posts posts about 9, 10, and 11 second cars impress you. I am old school and believe anyone should be able to achieve these times with NA combo's. Anybody can go out and spend 400.00 and bolt on a SYSTEM, open a valve, and push a button. What is the skill involved with this. Build a 11 second engine, add a bottle and brag about how fast your car is. I think we should have two fastest car lists on Moparts. One for NA and one for making HP the easy way. Old school racer here that takes pride in doing it the hard way. Heck even 8 second nitrous cars do nothing for me.
I didnt read the whole thread (dont plan on it)
Heres my take since there WILL be nitrous on my car. If you dont like it theres a few options... A. Dont look if you dont like it. B. You are more then welcome to pay to build me some wild 9sec N/A motor.
Im a broke ass 20 year old that wants to go fast, so dont judge me for how I get to where I wanna go, thanks.

Some nos cars simply kick ass and that`s guys on here also. I can barely tune my n/a heap so I`d be in a world of s#$t playing w/nos and do pride myself on my cars performance although it falls shy to even some small blocks. I would love to build a turbo motor someday but w/out all of the gizmos, timers etc, I`d be lost..........

I will use N2O Monster as an example. His impressed me because of the innocent look of the car and the see him run the 8.5 index or go to Kentucky and get lucky, but is it luck or his tuning ability.Yes many guys can install a system or 3,but can they ne consistant??Can I dial my blower car in and be consistant, same for a turbo car.Sub 9 sec passes to 8 sec passes do in fact amuse me.I also like to see a hangin' the hoops.A car that just goes from a to b and runs 8.0 does not gat much attention from me.
HEMI-ITIS has no cure. My condition is fully BLOWN!!

now if a guy shows up with a 88 monte carlo and has 4 kits and the car goes 10.90s....thats not impressive, but thats also not the nitrous at fault....its probably the malt liquor and 24" wheels that slowed him down
Where do I send my dry cleaning bill? Just spit my beer all over!! LOL

Add me to the list of "not impressed". Much more impressed by a car that is fast and N/A. It takes very little skill to add 100 hp of N2O but adding another 100 hp N/A takes a little skill. 200 HP of N02 take a little more skill, while 200 HP takes a good amount of skill. I am impressed with most any kind of power, turbo, super charged, bored, stroked... but nitrous does very little for me. Good ole N/A running 8s or Nitrous running 8s and I will be hands down more impressed with the N/A car.

As far as the argument about only running DRAG RADIALS. You guys wouldn't be able hook these cars without the chassis improvements made over the years and the way these STREET TIRES have improved over the years. Make a pass with a slick and then the equivalent sized drag radial and the car goes faster with the street tires. Don't believe it do some research. Now as far as tuning a nitrous powered car. Buy a book, get on the computer, call a nitrous rep, ( monty or many others ), change a pill, retard the timing, programmable timings, and push a button. Heck now you can just hook it up to the gas peddle.
Dude you have NO clue. Please put the key board down and go back to the MP catalog.I hear they got some new 509 cams in stock!!!!

i'm really surprised at all the nitrous haters here. we build engines for class racers, N/A bracket combo's and all kinds of "power adder" combo's. frankly, all of them are impressive in my book when they go out and run the numbers they were designed to run. obviously all of the above mentioned get built specific to specs to be reliable, but the differences in each type can be startling to the uninformed. i suppose this thread just illustrates the need for more than vanilla. carry on.
