Hi
I'm looking at a 69 Dart to replace the coronet, with a built 383 in it and a 727 auto transmission. what do these cars weight with a big block and regular interior and 727 transmission?
Ballpark would be great!

As you can see from the various posts, it will depend on exactly what you have in the car.
My 1969 Dart GTS, with a transplanted big block, 727, Dana 60, full roll cage, backhalf, but just a race interior weighs 2970+ (plus my 230). With a full interior and just a roll bar, you might be around 3200 or more.

Wow, your not kidding kind of all over the board. Yet much lighter then the 4040 weight of me and the coronet together.
The car I'm looking at is a 383 bench seat car with a 727 transmission and to be determined rear axle, guy was going to take a picture for me. It could be a dana, or a 8 1/4. I of course am hoping for the dana, but sounds like it is not a 8 3/4.

when you guys weigh your cars you have to be on a certified car scale or it probably wont be accurate. truck scales do not work.
WHY WOULD TRUCK SCALES BE ANY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER CERT SCALES?? boy this ought to be good!

A good place to weigh your car without taking it to the track is anywhere there is commerce involved with the use of the scale, as in a scrap yard where they are buying metals. They are checked by the state and must meet standards.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

umm...yes they are. There is legal requirement to certify them to +/- 20lbs (withing the weights they measure. And they are usually very accurate at lighter weights. The Unitec company certifies our scale to +/- 10 lbs. We weight EVERY truck we build (have too) to determine tare weight.

well having been an over the road driver I can tell you normal big truck scales that I have seen are no where near accurate from scale to scale. and some of the cars I have seen weighed on truck scales usually are heavy compared to a certified race scale at a track.so whatever floats your boat.
