I was just looking for a car, not a Mopar. I looked at a 55 Chevy and <gasp> a Mustang the day I found the Coronet and it wasn't a car I went to look at. It was just sitting beside the road for sale. I had Mopars, Fords and Pontiacs in the past, didn't matter as long as I liked it. How could I resist? This was a week after I bought it.

Sox & Martin, what else is there but a Cuda`.? LUST at 1st sight.
Being 6bblFLASH's little brother, it made perfect sense to want a Cuda too. However being dumb (age 15 in 1985) and poor, my first and only chance was a worn out 65 Barracuda. Thought it was butt ugly, but it was a "Cuda" like my brother's car, so it had to be cool.
After he re-built and painted it, jacked it up and put Cragars and Cheery Bombs on it I was HOOKED. It had to be old and ugly. So it's early A-bodies or nothing for me. I can still remember the look on my Mom's face when the "little old lady" car that I bought came home 6 months later as a hot-rod. She about had a heart attack.
Now gladly the owner of a 63 Valiant. Might not be the most sought after car in the Mopar family, but it gets more attention on the street, at the track and at the Mopar Nats than many of the expensive/popular models.
The pic is 6bblFLASH and I at the 2009 Nats. Good times indeed.

I came from wrenching on bikes- my 73 swinger was my first project car (I'm still polishing that turd shoulda said no ) Then I got my demon a few years later- already had a garage full of a-body parts! Plus what other car maker has such subversive names- a swinger and a demon sounds like a busy weekend, right?

I had to have a V8, I just loved the sound. I grew up on an estate where there was two American owned factories that employed a lot of people in the neighbourhood. A few of the US employees imported there own cars and sold them to the locals. I can remember mustangs, fairlanes, caprices, new yorkers driving up and down the main road as these guys went to and from work. Awesome. Fastforward to 1988, We decided to buy a car with a V8 with a view to drag racing it. I had a look at a pontiac firebird. It was fast but the exhaust fell off on the test drive, it smelt funny and had obviously been in a front end accident. I pointed this out to the guy and he effectively halved the price, he wanted rid of it so my wife and I walked away. Next was a 72 mustang, it was slow (302) the body was rippled, rusty and the seller wanted way too much for it. '77 Camaro, fast car but the seats wouldn't move and there was a rattle on the over run. Lastly the '74 Challenger we have today, owner took us out for over an hour in it. Cath, my wife said "thats the one" and it ended up on the drive next to the house. It was my daily driver from late 1988 through to 1990 when we began the street strip transformation. Now I'm Mopar through and through and the car remains all mopar. Nowadays the car is more strip / street. I won't tub it / cut it up, obviously strip it out or ever sell it. Car is part of the family and has made us a lot of friends.
'74 Challenger..9.46 @ 145.9 1/4, 6.001 @ 118 1/8 so far. 4023lb !!! # N/A, Marsh performance 655ci, Indy Maxx, T/R, Indy 600-13 X's, Street legal, pump gas, full interior, Cal-Tracs, mufflers, 3:73's and real 10.5 radials. 9.51 @ 142.4 1/4, 6.003 @ 114 1/8 with our old mule KB, 572-13, 580 wedge. it's my dads fault. my first car in high school was a 74 cuda. i was only 16 at the time. after that car i was hooked on mopars from that day on. the car i have now is a Rick Jones Avenger. ex pro stock. i bought it when alderman and geoffrion were kicking butt. i tryed to buy one of darrels old avengers from david nickens but it was just a little out of my price range. the one i have is larry morgans old car.

When I was in high school all the cool kids had Cameros, Chevelles, mustangs or Trans ams. Not being cool I started building a big block Dart (running summer after high school) I have always had A-bodys after that. Did the car club thing for a while (early 80s) and the B & E body guys where again the cool guys talking about how fast thier stuff was, but would seldom race the A-body guys. Built the Dart I am playing with now with my son and have seen things change some it's now almost cool to own a old Mopar A-body, I may have to sell it and build a Rambler.

I first saw this car at MMW 1999 in St. Louis. I bought it from the guy who origianlly built it, Bernie Piercy (East Peoria, IL) in 2001. I've had every wire, nut, bolt out of it. The body and ARC switch panel is the only thing that is the same. (except the scoop and bumpers)

I wanted a lifted Scout for my first car, but my Mom thought I'd kill myself in it...
Bought a '67 Dart GT with a 273 for $325 and have been a Mopar A body fan ever since.
I like small and light and Lean to the Left, so...

Here's both in their current state of disrepair.
Should both be ready to go for season openers in a couple months.
