My clutch locks on the launch,... tires spin for about a car length. Still enough to lift the front tires off the ground and pull down 1.60 60' times.
So you can dump the clutch at 6k and not burn tire all the way down the track!
Can't do this on the street though!
Just thought about this thread again after starting the thread on tricks to help with transmission strength/ life
Definitely has to be more than what is posted...

Astjp2: Thanks for posting that about the 3.09's I did talk to one guy using the 3.09 and he said he had some issues hooking up (class rule, stock-type tires only). Has anyone has ever tried going the wide-ratio 3.09, 1.67, 1.0 route? Kind of like this car.

Here is my setup. 68 ply gtx original 18 spline trans 354 rear gear 325/50-15 et radials mcleod street twin clutch about 4 years old 90wt fluid in trans stock bellhousing hurst comp+ shifter [originaly inland shifter] modified shift levers to shorten throw launch at 3000 rpm anymore and spins the tires not powershifting. I know it would do much better if I did. best 60ft 1.81 average 60ft 1.9`s need more time at the track and some nice sticky bias ply et street tires. best et 11.81 @ 119.26 suspension has front and rear sway bars, bilstein shocks, big torsion/strut rods and factory rear leaf springs. weight with my 180lbs in the front seat 4,120lbs And I agree there are not to many guys that will play with an old manual trans at the track Here is a run a couple of years ago. http://youtu.be/N-EwO2XCvIM

Tires in my avatar pic are for cosmetic purposes only. (P345/55R15) I blow them off at will on the street if I jump on it. At the track I use 29 12.50 X 15 Hooser slicks. Tires spin about 5 feet at launch. As stated, I've tried the 3.09 gear set. It didn't work for me. My short times were the same as the 2.66 set. My ET's were also about the same. I twisted 2 3.09 input shafts and actually wiped out the cluster gear with the last twist... My car being heavy, I thought the 3.09 set would work real well. In my case it didn't, so I'm sticking with the 2.66 low gear set.
4 speed street legal. Best time 10.99 @ 124 mph on 93 octane pump gas @ 3926# total weight

No one is mentioning what gear set they are running? The 23 spline has a narrow, standard, wide and overdrive gears.
I have a 2.47-1 and a standard 2.66-1 and working on getting good parts together for a 3.09-1 box.
Does anyone know if the OD input shaft is the same as a standard 3.09-1? They are both 22 tooth...Tim
The late coarse pitch overdrive input is the same as the old 3.09 input but the '75-7 overdrive input is different.
