Does anyone have a pic of the front spring hanger in an A-body with Caltracs installed? My Dart has the springs moved inboard of the frame. The chassis shop made the spring hangers and I'm wondering if it will work the way it is, or if I have to change it. And FWIW, I bought the car this way!

I read on here that Caltrac has a set-up for the relocated springs without the bolt. I didn't have that set-up...

Thanks for the pics guys And thanks for the heads up, Walter. I didn't realize there were two styles. Then again Tony's pics show me what I need, lol.

Don't have one on my pc. On A-bodys I cut out the spare tire well and weld in metal to make the truck floor flat. Then i run 2x3 box tubing from frame to frame in line where the factory rear hangers were bolted in. I weld factory A-body hangers to the 2x3 box tubing making sure the leaf springs are straight from front to rear. There's just enough room to put the rear bushing back in. And i bolt the shackles back by pushing them back in toward factory frame rail. Works out good. I have a 66 coronet on the lift now. Did it different. Will take a pic and post it tomorrow when i get in. Will see if i can get a pic this weekend at the track of a-body car i did?
I also cut and re-weld the frame rails to narrow them up to match the width at the rear of the factory tubs. I dont like that they get wider as they go forward. It gets about an extra inch for tire clearance by doing it. A-bodys end up having about 16.5' for tires. 13x31's phoenix slicks fit easy. They are about 15" of section on 12" wheels. This pic show the bottom side of the frame rail after i cut it before i clamped it back together for welding. Make the bottom of the frame rail about 1/2 inch narrower than stock. After it welded i cut the top of the frame rail I move them in about 1" before welding.

That's how my car is. The springs are inboard of the frame, not inside. This is on the blue Dart you used to own, that Robbins had for a while.

I didnt own that car. Just did the frame connectors and think I moved in the springs??? Chris Buffington own it and painted it. I bought all of the 360/904 stuff after they blew some head gaskets by spraying it. he was going to put a BB in it. Think his funds dried up? That's when he sold it to Robbins? Rebuilt the 360/904 and put it in this dart i was building.

Here's how i do an A-body rear shackle. Weld in 2x3 box tubing from side to side. Weld the factory hanger to it. Also weld the new floor pan to 2x3 tubing.

And here is the front hanger that I originally posted about. It only measures 3 1/8" ID. Does anyone know if that's enough to get the Caltrac set up in there?

I Don't know if the cal-tracs will fit in it or not? Will measure the inside of a factory hanger tomorrow and let you know. If your going to be building lots of power? I would be for re-doing that. That's not my handy work.

Seems I recall reading a thread somewhere a while back talking about fitting a Cal-Trac set-up into the Mopar Performance 3/4" offset spring mounts. But I don't recall if they make one and/or installation required some cutting. So I would be interested in finding more info on non-stock set-ups also.
