First off I had an absolute blast at MMW! It was a long ride and well worth it. Josh did an amazing job, as did everyone involved. The track prep was amazing and Scott the announcer kicked tail. Now for Ben at Promax. Good 'ol Ben at ProMax. I was in a major jamb Saturday morning. Smoked my starter. Bought it from Mancini. Broke my battery cable end taking the old one out. Run to the swap side. Hit up Ben. Tell him my jamb. Goes into his tool box and digs out a nasty old copper end and says, "What's it worth to you"? I say "What?". He says, "Well how much is it worth?". I say "How much do you need?". Five dollars later I got the end. A 50 cent end may I add. Yes I needed it to fix my car, and yes 5 bucks is only 5 bucks, but WHAT THE %&^%*^%?!?!?!?!?!? In my opinion, Ben's no racer at all. He just wants money. Any racer would have offered it up for free and may have accepted the $5 I would have offered up. A real man would have declined the $5 and wished good luck. I've spent alot of money with Ben over the years and will never give him another dime. Even if it means I don't have a part to fix my car!! Rant over.
Ok if he gets you out of a jamb it has to be worth something. You got to race instead of parking it on the trailer. Getting to race has to be worth more than $5.
On a side note I can remember an engine builder here who got tired of the masses nickle and diming him. Mr. ProMax is in business to make money and if he gives out all these freebees it might send him to the poorhouse. We all have bills to pay sometime they are paid with ingratitude.

This thread is like a car wreck, one can't believe it happened yet can't help looking at it.
Regardless of how you feel, anyone with class keeps disputes like this quiet. I never complain about anyone in public, I just file any problems I have in the back of my mind, learn from it, and move on. When ranking the severity of life's crisis, this one isn't worth talking about.

This thread has many interesting, & legit points form both sides of the aisle. Perhaps we can call it a wash, hopefully learn from both sides & move on - with everyone walking away with their head up. Very cool Challenger! [/quote

I have bought more than 40,000 in parts from Hawkins over the last 20 years and he will give me small stuff like this from time to time. How much have you spent with Ben??? Please tell the truth, this makes a hell of a difference. In my business I have allot of repeat customers that I will help out all I can because they are always showing up at my door with smashed cars and a fist full of money.I also have people who insist on bugging the pi$$ out of me for free info or estimates on cars they are not going to fix so they can pocket the check and I don't even get a thanks.I am sure If you helped Ben in the past (bought parts from him)He would help you back. But to give stuff to someone who is not loyal to you means you don't have that stuff to give to loyal customers.
God made cold beer, good friends, hot ladies and race cars don't spit in his face by pi$$ing and moaning about how life sucks!!!

I am going to through my two cents in this as a vendor and as a racer, and I have no dog in this hunt. As a racer, my tools are your tools, if I have a part in my trailer, its your. A quart of oil or trans fluid, valve cover gasket, its yours. Just this weekend at Indy, Mark’s 65 Coronet broke a output shaft, I had one in the trailer, I gave him the shaft, then I went to his pit spot and rip the trans down and installed the shaft, I missed a 10.0 time run. Now Mark does run my trans, and is a good friend, but I would have done that for anyone. When it comes to helping out a fellow racer, I do what I can, and others have done the same for me. As a vendor, I would have done the same thing. Its better to be a George Bailey than a Mr. Potter.

Why would anyone go to the vendor area expecting to get something for free? From one of your friends in the pits, sure. From a stranger in the pits maybe. From a vender,no way.
I have an old friend who sells parts. When he needs something I'm a friend and when I need something I'm a customer. I still concider him a friend but it's not the same as it used to be. Sometimes It's hard to be friends with someone you have a business relationship with.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
