First off I had an absolute blast at MMW! It was a long ride and well worth it. Josh did an amazing job, as did everyone involved. The track prep was amazing and Scott the announcer kicked tail. Now for Ben at Promax. Good 'ol Ben at ProMax. I was in a major jamb Saturday morning. Smoked my starter. Bought it from Mancini. Broke my battery cable end taking the old one out. Run to the swap side. Hit up Ben. Tell him my jamb. Goes into his tool box and digs out a nasty old copper end and says, "What's it worth to you"? I say "What?". He says, "Well how much is it worth?". I say "How much do you need?". Five dollars later I got the end. A 50 cent end may I add. Yes I needed it to fix my car, and yes 5 bucks is only 5 bucks, but WHAT THE %&^%*^%?!?!?!?!?!? In my opinion, Ben's no racer at all. He just wants money. Any racer would have offered it up for free and may have accepted the $5 I would have offered up. A real man would have declined the $5 and wished good luck. I've spent alot of money with Ben over the years and will never give him another dime. Even if it means I don't have a part to fix my car!! Rant over.

WOW. Just wow.
I thought I knew the king of cheap skates in the automotive world.
I was working on a gal's old Ford pick up truck........it needed a coil.
I went to Ace auto parts in St.Paul thinking I could get one for a couple bucks.
She was a starving artist ( aren't they all ) , so it was a welfare job.
I found one in the yard and took it to the counter......the owner told me 15.00.
They were around 20.00 new at the time.
I told him he was nuts and walked away.
Understand............this is a very busy and prosperous salvage yard.
Don ( the owner ) followed me out to my car with it in his hand and asked " How much will you give me for it ? "
I told him 2.00 and he settled for 4.00.
Sorry Don............you will have to relinquish your crown to Ben.
I have paid for parts at the track and I have given and gotten them for free.
But this is stunning to read.
just wow.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll never buy anything from them. The sharpest of business owners would have just given you one(not that you would have expected it) and reaped the benefits tenfold when word got out of what he did for you.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Funny you say that. He had a set of hemi spark plug tube inserts out on his table. The ones that press in the head and keep the oil from going in the cylinder when you change out plugs. $150. Guess what I didn't buy, and would have DEFINATELY gone back and purchased. http://www.jegs.com/i/Milodon/697/27500/10002/-1` As for expecting it,,, I would have dropped a few bucks on his table anyway before I scurried back to my car, but that's not the point is it. .. .. Thanks Blues_Cuda for the complement.

Wow,

I really thought that I was helping you out when found exactly what you were looking for. I did ask you what it was worth to you? The $5 wasnt so much for the part as it was for my time. You couldn't buy a coke or a cheeseburger for $5 at the event. In case you didn't know the promoters are proud of the Midway booths and charge us a pretty penny for them. The majority of this money is what is used to put the event on and help pay for your racing purses! So please don't tell me that I'm not a racer, I put a lot of time, money and effort into this event.

Also Holley jets are $6.99 a pair via Summit or Jegs plus a $9 handling fee. I don't think that $8 a pair delivered to your hand is unreasonable.

Now that you mention it. I bought a NX HVH 4 spray bar nitrous plate from Ben years ago. 2 fuel spray bars and 2 nitrous spray bars. The plate came with only 1 numbered jet for each setting instead of the required 2 of each. I called Ben and all he said was to call NX and to let him know how I made out. I saw I was not going to get anywhere so I just bought the jets locally and took my business elswhere. Thanks for reminding me.

If I needed something and someone said "whats it worth to ya" when I tried to pay them I would throw it back in their face and tell them exactly what they could do with it. Just tell me what you want for it or STFU. Thats just being an a-hole plain and simple. Oh and my one experience with the guy at pro-max was about the same as everyone elses.

One day I will have something cool here.

Perhaps you're not getting the fact that it has nothing to do with money, but everything to do with principle.

If not for being a weenie over a worthless end lug, this could have been a thank you thread...

I run a business and if someone just has a blown fuse or something simple, I just fix them up and send them down the road,no charge, It's the BEST kind of advertising, and I have overhead to!!

Like you guys pay $8 for a jet pair... When you buy the assortment of jets, how much are they? $5 for a copper battery cable lug? But I guess you add in the cost of your precious time hu?
Your making it worse with these comments BTW. If I was next to the racer, Id give you that stuff, and then help them put it on...

Where I come from, the end would have been given to you and NEW one would have been expected in return. We never borrow stuff from people and not replace it with a NEW one whether what you got was new or not at the next race. If there is no next race then it get's mailed.

I think it's awfully chessey for the OP to come on here and complain, talk about burning bridges. He was unprepared not Ben.

I don,t think that copper end was going to make you or break you,and to rant about a $5.00 part seems pretty triva to me,your in the wrong hobby if your going to complain about 5 bucks and Promax thats just bad business on your part.(sounds like your loseing future custermers over $5 bucks
