One last step before putting the doors back on, checking final gaps and alignment, then a final block and mask....

Are you going black instead of the original GY3? Or am I under the wrong assumption that only the upper/lower panels of the door got painted gloss black and the rest was body color?

No, it will be GY3, the upper and lower doors were black, afterwards those areas will get masked off and the yellow will cover the rest.

Is there a certain shade or tone to the black? My roadrunner is going base coat clear coat and I have to buy the black, so should I just get some black base for these areas?

I am having my car painted in single stage (similar to what the factory used) so the black on my doors is just plain old TX9 black single stage.

I thought so but wanted to make sure - thought you might be going black on black instead of the GY3

High or low gloss? My only question is I have only seen car when they were already 20 years old and had wear on them.

Mine was done in base clear so it was gloss. I sprayed the black base, masked it off sprayed the color and cleared it all at once.

Factory was gloss, but keep in mind, single stage enamel does not offer the "shine" that a base clear does, but only one is "correct", choose whichever suites your tastes. Also, for 340 Dusters with the V24 hood blackout, the upper door frames (coded 5X8) were painted in a unique low gloss charcoal finish to compliment the matte finish blackout on the tops of the outsides of the doors. See attached pic for example of codes

Rough but saveable. I looked it over in person, it was in Utah, bare rusty #'s engine block in the trunk, non #s trans, rusty quarters, hit in the front caused a bent frame rail forward of the shock tower, most front sheet metal replaced from accident, most rare/expensive 71 only 340 parts were missing or heavily damaged. As good as it looked in pics it was a total basket case. If it had the #s trans I would be the new owner but I passed, Neat car but he was asking too much for it's condition and incomplete numbers matching status. He eventually lowered his price and a guy from Texas bought it.
