I'd bet there aint much in the MSD 6AL unit either. Makes you think you are buying more when the case is bigger.
Kinda like the drug store stuff that comes in a big box for display purposes. You open it up and there is just one foil of pills.

here's a Q for you guys using the 6AL. i've herd good and bad about them. a good friend who raced BB dirt track modified said he would always have 2 spares cause he never knew when they would stop working. are they unreliable? and is that why MSD stopped making them?
i don't know too much about MSD, i'm using a Mallory box and i never had any problems with it.
A member here gave me mine and it has worked great. i have never really heard of problems with them either. i really only hate msd distributers

This is obviously an attempt to make some quick cash. The internals look very familiar. Probably a module from Pertronix or an HEI. Can't remember.
The unit is probably lighter by a few ounces.
Question is where did he get the cases. Are they knock offs to. I bet not. I bet they came from an MSD scrap pile or were purchased as scrap. I'd even go so far as to say the ship from address is probably fake to throw anyone off who is trying to win a patent lawsuit.

My best friend went to China to do a 6 month job for his US employer--has turned into 2 1/2 years and still going--the tales he emails me would make your hair stand up! It is 100 times worse than we think as far as POOR quality, bogus etc--he talks about the pollution being SO bad he does not see the sun for weeks at a time--has never seen the moon and the water coming in to his plant from the city was so bad he had to build an addition to clean it before it could be used in industry --we are not talking drinking! They run a good chance of imploding on their own crap as they race headlong to be us. That said we just used a set of China rods in our Engine Masters entry--I hope they do one next year and force you to use only USA parts--I guess that would be a 440 with a .509 cam and a Carter?? I BET I could not build a USA only Hotrod if the truth was known about every material and part. I am going over for a visit with him soon and will report back with first hand info.

As a design consultant for some of the major consumer electronic brands I travel to China multiple times each year. Air and water quality is poor, and even electrical power is rationed some factories can only have the power on 5 days.
Almost anything knocked off is available, we know where to get Apple iPods, iPads and even the iPhone 4. There are so many small factories which can clone/copy and rip off almost anything..
Their economic development is incredible, buildings and freeways popping up overnite. We visited a VW factory 1st joint venture car factory in China, builds 4000 cars a day.. Thats like one every 10 seconds.. 
Just my $0.02...

usa does all the r+d,and our "friends" copy it,and use junk parts,and feed it back to us!.are they getting aid from our govt also?
