Well, I tracked down a REAL , new MSD 6AL today and bought it. So now we'll see how e-bay performs with dispute resolution. "Chris" , (seller), wants to know how I am sure the unit is fake, and is disputing my claim. I referred him to MSD and indicated that they can verify the couterfeit and they would like to know more about him and his merchandise. I have not heard back from him since.
Scott
Can you post a link to the "Seller" in question and the serial # that's on ALL the counterfit MSD units
I would recommend avoiding any 6AL with serial number 682013. I left some pretty negative feedback for the seller, here is his latest response:
"Hi,what you do is in normal procedure, but if you are a good person you will not do so in the situation that we still in good talking, yes, yes that you give me bad feedback and give the terrible comment, you know what happen after it??many of my buyer email to complain for it,you throw my business to floor so quick!!why you not think that I am also the victim,I bought these in huge money,I also very want to know why they are fake?(if you are right)
now I am killed by you, even I mail to MSD guy, what help to my ebay account?I very want to know what advantage you can get from this??if all the buyers don't return the item to me first, and just ask refund first, you can confirm that after all refund,I can get all items returned???you can guarantee me????you are the justicer or Ebay?let ebay tell you how to do!!!!
big nightmare!!!

There has been a guy locally selling 6AL's dirt cheap out of the box, now I know how he's doing it. I'm curious to get a look at one of his and check the serial number. Mike Gray

Why buy a knock-off box, when you can get a complete distributor including the module inside..

Next they took the electronic insides and put it in box.. Total low quality junk!!! Stay far & kleer..
Just my $0.02..
We have that Procomp Dizzy in my Son's truck 360....It's fine for an everyday driver.....but I wouldn't recommend one for a race application.....IMO the quality sucks, but hey it's cheap....you get what you pay for......well at least most of the time

I learned very quickly in Afghanistan...when it comes to copyright...nothing is sacred. you name it, they had it, cheaper, and fake.
want a $5,000 rolex? $20. (I bought a fake Britling because I liked how it looked, but I knew it was a fake.) want the latest movie to hit the theaters? $1. (just ignore the person 2 rows up getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle, and the mono-channel audio from the cheap Chinese camcorder used to video tape said movie)
as for the MSD boxes, they've proven to be more reliable than the orange boxes to me. just don't get them wet!

He writes like the guys/gals that send you phishing notices about the lotter you won in England. Gee wiz I have never been to England or played the lottery there, but I won!!!! I better send them $$$$ right away so I can collect my winnings. I was waiting for the product description, "it spark you LONG time" Then he tries to make you look like the bad guy for calling him out. What a MAROON Don

Now that they've been discovered, I would bet that phase 2 is cloned 'accurate' internals and updated serial# stickers.

So what about all the ignition boxes sold by (440source) that looked like MSD boxes. I see they still sell the so called PRO BILLET dist. Still all made in ...China? Just like the good ole rods everyone likes. All China stuff is junk, BUT! 440 SOURCE has good China parts???

My only comments are.. 1. Where do you get a new cap or rotor or pickup when it blows out on a Sunday cruise. 2. Be sure to have your AAA and towing benefits up to date, you will need it.
As pappy always said.. If its too cheap, it is a POS..
Just my $0.02..
