I was wondering if anyone can help me I bought a new power plant for my 1969 Cuda fastback its been a long time comming and I was wondering what I will need to make this an easy swap. I have a 440 now is there will that K-Frame and motor mounts work? Any info would be great!! I plan on installing a MP Crossram instead of inline 2x4

Ed Debevec's (715-267-7141) has complete pre fabbed A-body K-members. Mega Parts might have them to, but not listed on website.

Then use the new A-body TTI headers.

This is much easier and cheaper to do now that ever. Once TTI stepped up to the plate and made headers, then the K-member guys can make K-members to fit.

The 1st gen prototype set pictured above in Troy's Hemi dart clone will not.

BUT they have now changed them to fit 4 speeds. So 4 speed ones should be ready to ship by now. Call TTI for details. Cheaper and easier than getting your car to a good custom headers builder for Hemi A-bodies like you had to do in the past.

Troy has all the super detailed numbers for motor placement. He will be doing the final motor install in his just painted/primered Dart very. Troy is the one that pushed TTI for years to get these header to market and he offered up his car for prototype testing.

Maybe Troy will pipe in with more details. I bet he is putting the finishing touches on still drying painted cross ram Hemi right now.

It's alot easier now that k-frame's and Headers are available.

I will ad.. offset mater cylinder plate, shorten the steering column jacket and pass inner fender mods to the list.

If you are planning on running air cleaners with the MP crossram (street car) you MAY have to get a taller scoop from AAR.

I don't like the shape of there xtra tall scoop so I sectioned mine (added 1.25 inches)

yes it can be made to fit, but the motor must be positioned correctly. the mp crossram is taller then the original 1s and even they where positioned down 1/2" by using spacers between the k frame and front frame rails. be prepared to run into "issues" as you make the swap as alot of items will have to be tweaked or custom made. pick up jim schild's authenticity guide for info and some help, mancini carries it. don't get discouraged as the end result will be well worth the effort!! dave

Im leaning more towards a motor plate for this swap I think it will make life much easier plus it will be more stable in the car... TTI headers are the way to go...

Yes I will.... The Cuda will be next inline to get done after the 65 Belvedere 1 car is done. So looks like I might just wait till the fall to do this project since im doing chassis work as well to the Cuda... Ill make sure I have plenty of pictures...

Hello everybody.
Some time ago I started talking to Sam over at TTI about making "A" body Hemi headers. After a few years they are done.....almost.
I loaded up my 1968 Dart with all of the original front suspension components and took it to TTI. I have spent most of a year trying to figure out where the factory located the Hemi engine between the frame rails. I looked at original factory Hemi cars....original blue prints and talked to anybody that new anything about these cars and came up with the the specs that you will see in these photos. I welded in the mounts, dropped the engine in and TTI did the rest.

Here are a few photos of the engine placement....

Once you get the engine in there are a few things that you should do to make things clear. Steering column tube needs to be shortened by a couple inches so it clears the head. I don't remember the exact amount but you can see in the pictures the amount is no more than a few inches. Here is a shot before....

Brake system....You need an offset the master cylinder to make room for the valve cover. I used the bracket that you can get through either Mancini Racing or any Mopar Performance dealer. I made the lines myself saving a few bucks along the way.

OK, back to the headers. The headers are a 2 1/8 with a 3 1/2 collector. First of these are not a full tilt race header. They were never meant to be a full tilt race header....They are a kick a$$ street header that would work on a 700hp+ engine. If you want a race header....buy a race header. If you want a good bracket header....buy these headers. If you going SS/AH racing.....don't buy these headers.

OK so with that out of the way here are some pictures..

These headers where ment to run manual steering. I don't believe PS will work but not 100% sure on that.

That should do it for now. I'm getting the car back from the body shop by this weekend and the fist big step is to get the engine and trans in. Once it is in I will post up some more pictures.

Troy I want to say thamk you very much for the great pictures and all the information you have shared. You have answered all my questions and TTI is the way to go without any questions. I will have to call TTI and ask them if the headers are differnent for a 4sp car...

are the TTI set up for the K-fame shims, or can you run them without?

Here are a few more pictures. This is the K member that I built but you can buy one from Al Debevec (715) 267 7141. He had a REAL GOOD price for the K member, mounts and spacers.

I know this is an old thread. But gonna bump it back up. My question is, can the TTI headers for a hemi abody be used *without* the k member shims? Will it all clear down low?
