Maybe Lonemopar will divulge his combo..... I think he had Victors on his Cuda when I watched it go 8.87 or so at KCIR ? Foggy memories from that weekend...no sleep in 2 days...plus the all night Beer o Thon (both nights) with the Brainerd boys...

Seems like brian at imm engines (ou812)has an article coming out about them? Or maybe its super stealths I can't remember.
Yeah, but we're starting with a 400, with budget in mind. The second article will be a stroker BB and ported MW Victors. Once you get past the pushrod clearancing they are a great cylinder head.
If the guys at Koleno play along there will be a 3rd article based on their lowdeck block, and MAX effort Victor heads using either a vac pump or maybe dry sump. We want to see the very best they have to offer in a single 4 barrel build. Brian
Hmmm, little freshen up, new cam, and you have your 2nd article...

I just bought a set with Summits 15% off sale. On the way to CNC. Trying to decide what rockers to use and what to bolt them to.

LOL...I see where this is going!! The second article will still be pump gas based though. Only the last build will be an all out effort. The pump gas builds are super popular and are becoming common place more and more. Still wouldn't be a bad idea for your engine...how many passes are on that anyway??
Haven't had it out much the last year and a half. No more than 50 1/4 mile and 15 or so 1/8 mile passes on it total. 50 street miles maybe. Alot of time just sitting in the trailer.
Taking it out to Fontana tomorrow for the street legal day...

Jim, why not really test them? 572, 15/1, 283/290 roller with .775 to .825 lift, Terminator on alky. The heads would definately be the choke point !

the MW Victors are really pretty efficient for their size, and on a 500-ish cube motor might even be better than a -1 because of the higher velocity. but on a high effort large cube combo, i think the added area of the -1 would start to pay off.

I am OK with testing any size from 493-572, but IMO 572 is getting too big for either head. The idea of alky injection would eliminate the "carb" restriction from the variables. And the builder can call the cam, as long as it is big enough (280-290 range), and roughly 0.730-0.790" lift.
My initial point was you don't see too many dyno head swaps. Especially if the heads max flow numbers are the same. This would show the "hidden" differences in the heads such as port size/efficiency, chamber shape effectiveness, etc.

I remember Fast making a very similar comment when he tested my Chapman MW 285's. At a certain point the port efficiency for the cross section will give way to port size...this actually makes sense when you consider wet flow and not dry flowbench air. If you have a 12.5:1 A/F ratio for Ideal power at a certain point you limit the amount of port area for both. so while 380 at a 285 cc port area is more efficient than a 310 cc' when you consider a BIGGER motor (and/or 6800-7000+ RPM on a 500 incher) the 310cc port leaves more room to get both the extra needed air and fuel in the holes to make the higher power...it's all very logical. All else being equal the more efficient port will generally make more torque for the given airflow at part throttle and below the Peak torque RPM, but the bigger the motor gets that extra velocity/torque potential is not really even an issue. The full ported CNC Super Vics seem to flow very close to the Chapmans, and since the supply of Chaps seems to have dried up. Looks like I'll be going to the Super Vics next time around. What's really lacking in the marketplace now is a suitable low rise Max wedge intake (like the MP 337 or the Indy 2D) that will clear the hood without a scoop.
