I don't see why cal customs were not avaliable back then. I have several sets and my buddies 70 challenger has all the day 2 stuff still on it when he got..the cal custom covers, edlebrock tm7..and american racing T- 70's all of it appears to installed when the car was new!
IMHO moroso stuff is mid/late 70's M/T covers have been around since the 60's There are also many others ansen etc. no name covers with fins and a block in the center of the cover some 70's versons had "pro stock" in that block.
Covers with fins that extend right to the valve cover rail on the font and back look more vintage to me, than the ones with fins only on the top .
Example M/T have fins on the top and cal customs extend to the vc rail.
Edlebrock had finned covers back then too but the script was differnt than present day stuff. The have just reintroduced the sbm covers bbm can't be far behind.

Yep chrome or Cal Custom for me to. In fact I have a set of Cal Customs on mine right now. Mine have never leaked even after several R&Rs on a set of gaskets.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I don't believe the stamped gold anodized aluminum vc's(moroso or DC) were available until 77, 78, or 79 time frame. That's just from memory. Cast aluminum Cal Custom, M/T, Offy, Holley, and maybe Edelbrocks were around in 1970 IIRC. I know Edelbrock made them for Ford's and GM's but not positive on the Mopar at that time. Some of the early Super Stock and Drag magazines would have the ads!

Cal customs are my hands down favorite..they can be expensive my best score at a swap meet is the bb set I bought for $75 never been installed brand new nos.
NicePics! Sandy, that really helps, much appreciated,...I agree the Cal Customs are more "vintage" looking than the others,....I know the one on the far left is a Cal,...is the fully finned cast single (5th in from the left in pic) also a Cal Custom?...Also weren't some Cals cast with the Cal Custom logo in the center boss?, or was that a decal,...it's been quite a few decades since I've have/run a set...If you have a fully finned set of BBlk covers (like the 5th one in from the left), and want to make some coin, I'm looking for something like that for a personal day 2 resto project...Thanks Mike

I don't think the one of the far left is a Cal Custom, but the 5th one down definitely is. I've got a pair of big block Cal Customs I'd probably let go of. Just a spare set that have to be cleaned up/polished.

I've got some old vintage Edelbrocks that were produced around that time. Those and the Cal Customs are my favorite.
