I had taken a 13 year "vacation" from racing when I started back. Same car, but with many updates (most noteable was a 14 point roll cage in place of a 6 point, not even close to legal roll bar). First pass, (on a new to me track), no burn out, stage the car, leave late, easy launch, 1/2 throttle to half track, just get the feel for the brakes, steering, staging lanes, shut down, turn off, return road, switches ect. Second pass, burn out, full tilt launch, into high gear and lift. (lift was very hard to do because it felt so good, but stick to the plan) Third pass, get it done and don't look back! Welcome back racer!!!

Ok New Car new Motor and I have been out of the seat for 2 years. The ? is what to do.. I will be taking the car to Milan Dragway next Saturday, All my family and freinds are expexted to show up to help me tune and get the 4-link tweeked in .
The car 520" 4-link trans break Power Glide. Mega 450 with 3 step.
I was thinking of starting slow and easy, What do you think ???.
I have heard some good advice here in this column. I hadn't had any seat time in my old SS/AA Cuda for 10 years , till Friday night at National Trail Raceway. First easy pass brought back some memories.Good pass. Second pass was a full tilt launch , an easy 120 mph run with a 14x32 blow out in the traps. Again, memory kicked in , kept it straight with no damage. Innertube failer, tire is fine, no damage. Just take it easy a couple of runs and get that racing feeling back.
