Like the idea of racing for something all 3 days . What I don't like that the box ,no box race in the final together . I think the 2 nobox racers going 7 rounds then race a box car in the final is a let down ,sure it could happen . Also as mention their was usually more nobox cars than box and that means more cash if you leave the claas's seperate . Make it interesting if you win Sat in your class then win Sunday a bonus ,maybe some sponsor would take that challenge and odds of a racer winning both days through maybe 14 rounds . Like a half court basketball shot . I've raced 1 qtr mile track so far this year ,guess i'll be waiting till Sept 25 weekend . Don

Does any one remember when Nick Bowman won the box gamblers at norwalk a couple of years ago? In his street driven (I think), deep staged duster! Oh Yeah, I run a box too. I went out in the quarters. I think Josh is doing fine just stepping up for this challenge in this economy. That said, I hope I can put some means together so I can go. Hey Josh, Can we stay at the track? Do they have showers? Thanks Beep

Josh, You bought the Monster Mopar Weekend show, race program, rights to use the name, and so and so forth. MMW was a proven brand specific race. If you wanted to start small, and not stick your richard out on the line you should have done it like SS Promotions did it, start off small, come up with your own name and not paid for the rights to MMW. Monster Mopar Weekend started as Monster Mopar Sunday as a one day race with a much smaller payout and entry fee. You are asking the racers to show up and pay the entry fee for a weekend format race and a payout of a one day race. I will show up for Sunday only. How much entry for Sunday only? Should be about $75.00. The format as you have it planned, is not the Monster Mopar Weekend that us racers showed up to Gateway International Raceway for and made it successful for SS Promotions On the original topic of this thread, box---no-box combo races suck, especially when there will more than likely be more no-box cars than box cars. I race both and the box car will win that race 90 times out of 100. You are advertising 200 cars and $8000 winner. So you are expecting a good car count. 100 cars in each class at $125 entry is $12500 per class and you think $3000 winner payout and around $5000 total payout per class is fair? You must have your eyes on a new Italian sports car. The sat. race should be a no additional cost race for all race classes there except Q32. Q32 should be $10000 to win because 7.99 and faster cars are not worth bringing out for $5000. And yes us racers do want more chances at winning money, and a box-no-box combo is a poor way to give us racers another chance at winning money, but a good way for you to put a gigantic dollar amount in your ads to sucker people to your race. Brand specific races need out of town racers to show up or failure is probable. There has to be a reasonable pay-out to entry fee ratio or most out of town racers will stay close to home and race at their local dragstrip. I was one of the first guys to get on the ones saying they wouldn't go to MMW at Indy because it's too far and gas costs this much and hotels cost this much. I was thinking the only thing different about MMW this year would be the location. Man was I wrong. Those guys saying gas and hotels would make it not worth while were right. Again I look forward to MMW as much or more than anyone else. And yes the economy is in the toilet right now. But that is no reason to change the format. Maybe have the payouts vary to reflect the amount of entrys. Example 100 cars in Pro would have the same winners pay, [$4000] as the old MMW and only 52 cars reduce pay by 48% which would be $2080 to win instead of $4000, and sat. would be $2000 with 100 cars and $1040 with 52 cars. Fighting your way through 100 tough racers for a $125 entry and only $3000 to win and the promoter takes a $7500 profit is not at all fair. Promoters are supposed to make their money off of spectators, t-shirts, sponsored advertisements, beer, soda, hot dogs and so-on. With out the racers the promoters have no show! Promoters have many ways to get paid, and racers have to win to get paid.

Now wait a minute Dan....Italian sports car, come on man.
Have you ever seen a successful Mopar event at this track in Indianapolis? I havent, now granted maybe it was the wrong time or the wrong show, but that alone is something to think about
Dan, track rental and insurance for this race is upwards of 50,000 dollars....you want to do some quick math for me on that bud. Sponsors range from 3,500 to 500...go ahead and take a guess at what that totals.
Take a quick 32 class that the sponsor has never once in the history of the race covered even the winners purse...... theres another check to write..... Now as far as what these guys ill race for, I have personally or thru someone else contacted every mopar quick car that i can think of and even the guys from chicago are happy with a 5k payday.
tee shirts, yep your right there is some profit there....if spectators come and buy them....and I dont buy 2000 and only sell 1,000 then its another break even deal.
The track doesnt allow you to make a penny on concessions..... add lights, tents, trophys, employees, hotels for judges, and everything else and your lucky to break even the first year.
I also didnt raise entry fees. It is the same as last year, i did lower the super pro and pro by 1k.
Now as far as the saturday race, I truly though that a guy would gladly spend an extra 40 dollars to race for an additional 6k to 8k, or way more if the cars sign up and show up.
Dan, I bought a name to a show you are correct, but i was going to start with a small show at indy anyway as I wanted to have a place for mopar fans to go since gateway closed and I attend other mopar races where guys pay 70-90 dollars to race for 1000, or 1,200, or even less.
If this year is a success, next year payouts will go back up,, probably higher than st louis, and I will do that year after year, as long as I can pay the bills, but you have to let me get through my first year doing a show/dragrace this big with no experience at it and no historical data of the event taking place in Indianapolis.
I want this to become a Mopar Dragrace of truly Monstrous proportion that the whole country wants to attend, but man, cut me some slack on my first year.

Track rental and insurance is not as high as you might think.
In your opinion, how much would it cost to rent IRP for three days?
