well doc , i dont think nascar will make any diffrence to gateway.
now it was the idea that if gateway was built that nascar would come knocking, wich it did have the busch (camping world) series, which was a disater the first year due to the track tearing up caused by high heat , and wrong type of blacktop used at the time.
the nascar trucks ran on it as well as indy cars, but are now long since gone.
the 4 biggest issues have never been overcomed, taxes and multible ownership of the ground, and no parking for the public for youre major events, and lastley the economy, sponcership has dried up alot ,companies are not as easy to get!
as for the dragstrip itself, one of the best in our area, management has been the downfall and the root cause for loss in attentance.
there is alot of area racers that want to belive that this rumor is finaly the right one, and want nothing more than the track to reopen quickly!! as do i!! there has been several rumors that i have seen and heard ,and which i totally know to be b s !!
those are the ones i quickly 'dump' on.
as for this rumor its not really a new one it has been revisited by comp plus mag ,
so we will see if its the real deal ,
it is getting late in the year to get that track open this year,
repairs, employees, etc
but I AM CROSSING MY FINGERS THAT IT DOES OPEN!!!!!!
