That does suck. I would rather read that you blew a motor than getting hurt. Sounds like you are a quick healer though. Get well soon.

Larry, so sorry to hear of your misfortune. Prayers for a full recovery. What kind of car, engine combo, ETs? Wellcome to the jungle. Greg

I don't get on the computer every day, pain & pills & stuff. I do appreciate all the thoughts, wishes & prayers from everybody.
I did get great news yesterday sort of. I'll be going home Monday. My wife has to go shopping for a few pairs of loose sweat pants this weekend first. My right foot is swollen too much to get my normal shoes on, but I won't be needing it for a few months, but my leg from just below my knee all the way up to my hip is swollen too much as well and all I can get on is loose sweats. I'll be having an in-home therapist & most of the equipment, crutches, walker, wheelchair, stuff like that is covered 100%.
I live near I-70 & I-75, so it's normally easy to get to a lot of tracks without spending hours on the road.
The car is nothing special, but I've owned it over 30 years. It's a 1973 Duster, originally had a 318. It's got a mostly stock '69 340. Only changes to the engine are the cam, intake, carb, headers, ignition & small valve untouched heads. We run a sb 727 tranny, don't remember which converter, but I launch normally @ 3500 rpm & it flashes to 4700 rpm. It's got a narrowed by 8" 8 3/4 rear with a 4:56 gear, spool & Moser axles. After our last race last year we had been having some problems, but we think we've got them fixed. Lean stumble - tuned on the carb. Found 2 bad plug wires. Made the changes, got it painted, changed from steel wheels to Welds & Mickey's. Took some time to get stuff worked out & didn't have a chance to test this year before I broke my leg.
It's best performance was at our last race last year. We had a 1.68 60' time, 7.71 @ 90 mph in the 1/8 with a 12.19 @ 109 mph in the 1/4. We're pretty confident it'll get into the 11's this year and I have no doubt my son will get it there.
I'll be there with him, coaching & encouraging him & help make tuning decisions. I'm already chomping at the bit to get off my back and on my feet, but I know it'll be a few months still.
Dad took me to my 1st race about 50 years ago & I loved it. When I finally got the chance I started racing & passed that love to my kids. My wife has been supportive, even to the point of being 8 months pregnant & helping me change intakes. We only own & race Mopars. It's all family & it's all fun. Thanks again.

Every time you drive the car from now on you will be able to say it has got some trick titanium pieces in it. My wife did that a couple of years ago. Took a header off the front step and snapped her leg off at the ankle and poked the bone out into the daylight. The upside to doing it that way is you get to go to surgery STAT. She now has a rod, 2 plates and a box of screws in addition to the original equipment. They made her better but we're still working on the "faster, stronger" part.

Good luck with it. It sounds like you are making excellent progress already.

As an added bonus, if you have a weather station, you will be able to confirm the barometric readings. Probably days in advance.

Kevin
