I have personally swapped them, on an AMC, they were exactly the same and the spline for both was a 23. Tim

Huh ??? the length from the engine to the trans mount is the same between the 2 , but the tail housing are not interchangeable since the 72 is longer than the 904 and uses a different size yoke .
