My '68 rr leaked but only after I let it sit for a while. I changed pan gaskets three times, changed pans twice once from the stock pan to a deep MP pan with new gasket and then back to a new stock pan/gasket and still it leaked or at least I thought it was leaking. Tried the cork gasket, the standard thickness rubber gasket and a thicker rubber gasket and still it leaked. Found out it was that darn single O-ring around the dip stick tube where it enters the trans. With the converter full/warm and the oil level below that O-ring point no leaks let it sit for a short time and the fluid fills the pan and it raised to the O-ring/dip stick tube and it would creep along the pan and gasket area and make it look like the pan gasket was leaking. Check the dip stick tube O-ring seal, they rarely get changed and get hard and don't seal that well when they are old...
