I have done a lot of oil testing in my Stockers and for the most part Bob is right. Between the fastest oil and the old Napa 75-100 10W40 Valvoline based dino oil there is .07-.09. In a class car that is a ton but for a bracket car I do not know if I would spend the extra money. I have found RP #9 to be the best compromise for cost, ET, and durability. I do change out for heads up runs though.




If you compare with a synthetic blend 5w20 there will be only 2-3 hundredths difference. It's really just the lighter viscosity that allows the gains. When I ran my stocker we only found a couple of hundredths using 5w20 Mobil One over a generic 10w40. When you start getting real light expect to see more engine wear.
