It's virtually the same as any old Torqueflight-just uses a helical diff to drive the front axles and a lockup clutch in the converter. Uses a band for second gear. Judging by what you just posted, the coolant likely delaminated the intermediate band, or there is a governor issue. Any auto trans will not last very long when you discover the strawberry milkshake. Even if you fix the problem that initially caused it. Get the unit overhauled, or get a clean cutout. I wouldn't hesitate to install one of these used, I would just check the diff bearings and axis pin. Otherwise they are actually pretty durable little units...
