I’m not sure what you mean by normal valve train noises. Do you mean when the engine is cold it makes a little extra noise at start up which goes away after the engine warms up? That’s a true enough reality for most any engine. Curious, have you totally ruled out loose valve adjustment?

I’ll include some links of some products and tricks that will help you optimize lubrication upon cold (dry) start up.

Also, consider an old tried and true method of lubricating your engines internal parts on the combustion side of the equation. This is done by adding a very light 500 to 1 ratio of TC-W3 rated 2-cycle oil to your cars gasoline, which equates to 1 ounce to five gallons. We all know that gasoline used to have lead, a heavy metal added to it back in the day as a means to cushioned and lubricated parts in the combustion chamber. So then is it inconceivable to think that a 2-cycle oil that is designed to not only provide a film of lubrication on parts in the combustion chamber but also burn completely and cleanly could provide similar results? This is somewhat of a controversial topic but one I’m going to give a fair shake. Check out the following link for more on this topic:
