When I started racing NHRA stock( a long time ago ) we had a Holley mechanical race pump on the street hemi we where racing, it would lose fuel psessure from the start of high gear 6.5 lbs and drop down to 1.5 to 3.0 lbs at the finish line. It would surge a little now and then at the finish line. We took the car to one of Mopars drag clinics at the old Irwindale drag strip and told one of the Mopar drag reps about that, he suggetsed to switch it to one of the Carter NASCAR Hemi race pumps to cure the fuel pressure dropping. Dave Wren was at that test session and we bought a used one from him and installed at the track right away. That fixed the pressure problem and ended up helping the car go faster We had changed the stock jetting making it richer one size at a time on all eight barrels, the car went faster on the first change and didn't change after that until we changed the fuel pump Buy the Carter race pump and never look back, you may need to run a pressure regualtor also Some do and some don't, probally depends and the needles and seats your using

That is exactly true.
