Ok im down to buying a driveshaft for my car. Just wanted to know what material some of you are using. I have a 600h.p,650 torque engine with a powerglide 1.80. Car weight just guessing 3000lbs.
The engine won't see over 7200 rpm.

Will a steel driveshaft .095 wall suffice. 1350 U Joints. Driveshaft will be around 53-56 inches.

Yes My Duster has one of the old Mopar driveshaft kits in it, .083 wall 3.25 diameter that originally had 7260 rear yoke and U joints, 7290 front U joint with a stock traany yoke. I broke the front tranny yoke, I also spread a new Dana Corp 7260 forged pinion yoke apart far enough to let the interior U joint keepers slide out( I replace that yoke with a forged steel 7260 unit And finally ripped the ladder bar brackets off of the 8 3/4 housing, the housing( no back brace ) was bent horribly from the abuse of a 3450 lb car running low to mid tens I now have a Dana 60 (truck housing with 3 .125 axle tubeswelded all thw way around the center section )in the car with the same 7290 front yoke and U joint and a 1330 rear yoke and u joint All with the same driveshaft This is a street and strip car that made 612 HP and 644 Ft. Lbs torque when I first built he motor, now has 718 HP and 740+ Ft. Lbs. 1.43 60 ft. best on ET Street Radials and ladder bars IHTH
