I am going to fire up a fresh 440 tomorrow.

be sure and hand turn it to reach the (2) seperate points in the crank rotation where each heads' passage lines up so they get prelubed also. May I suggest several helpers: 1 to add fluid to the trans when it starts, 1 to man the dist/timing light/1 down below to check for leaks/1 up top to check for fuel/coolant leaks. You in the drivers seat to keep the rpm's up/rev it/shout orders. Stat OUT. Front end jacked up as HIGH as you can get it (air pockets). Read "breakin secrets" CRITICAL. at www.mototuneusa.com (5 minute read). Turn timing marks to 10 BTDC #1 compression & set dist so w the can roughly where you want it & it has room to be turned & where a reluctor vane is dead even w the magnet & rotor under or nearly under cap terminal w #1 plug wire. Dist holddown snugged so it is tight but can be turned by hand to time it when it starts(to 36 w vac adv disconnected). Wired 18436572 CCW as said. Fill carb bowl vent w a turkey baster & 3 or 4 pumps of the AP to prime it. MAKE sure all systems are GO so it will light off immed. Proper breakin oil w zinc. Lifter bottoms (only) & lobes coated w the black moly paste & #1. Did I say #1: On prior mockup clean lifter bores w brake kleen & lightly lube each bore & it's lifter w WD40 & raise each lifter off of it's respective lobe & let it go & it should fall back on the lobe w a resounding "thunk" & if not the lifter bores are too tight and the lifter will not rotate properly & early cam failure will very likely result. Light honing to correct it. (hope yours are good w tomorrow being the big day). If solids I adj them then pull the shafts/pushrods & THEN lube the lobes/lifter bottoms then replace the rocker assy's as the adjustment will not change just from a R&R & lubing the cam 1st then alot of hand turning to adj valves will wipe too much lube off. A bit picky but w the current cam probs you dont want to take any chances there. Any leaks or probs cut it fast w no hesitation/fix them/start over. Rear wheels slightly off the ground & start in in drive so the eng has a load from the drivetrain. EDIT take out the inner springs w an on eng valve spring compressor & as you know no less than ~2500 rpm for ~25 minutes & VARY the rpm
